My dad was also very abusive I was able to escape when I was 14 I didn't talk to my dad for another 25 years. When I did talk to him again he had found Jesus and was a complete different man. My Dad and I started to build our relationship. 3 years later my Dad found out he had cancer I went to see him and he made me a promise he would fight and beat the cancer. Less than a month and a half later my Dad lay on his bed I seen a double rainbow and a calmness came over me and I heard a voice tell it's ok let him go. I called my step mom and told her she asked if I wanted to tell dad she held the phone to his ear and I told him about the rainbow and the voice telling me it's ok he can go home to live with God and his son my Dad took one last deep breath and was gone. It hurt more than anything but Jesus kept his promise when he told me it's ok let him go. I love you Dad 😥😥😥 surrounded by your Glory what will my heart feel will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you will I be still. I can only imagine praise Jesus

My father’s funeral was February 18th, 2023, and this was one of the songs for his services. Me and my dad weren’t always on the best of terms. In fact, we did have some difficulties and hardships, but naturally, as any father and son would, we did talk about what so has happened and everything, and naturally, we did let our troubles be put behind us and we did let bygones be bygones. As his health was rapidly declining, even after two heart attacks and a stroke, we actually were somewhat close than we ever really were before. February 9, 2023, his health was rapidly declining, and I called the ambulance and they said he had respiratory shock. At the hospital, the same day, February 9, 2023, 3:15PM, he died of congestive heart failure followed by respiratory distress. I can only imagine how well he is doing up there. I even hope he and my mother, who died four and a half years earlier of pancreatic cancer, are making peace with each other even when they divorced. I believe, if anything, he is at peace and is making peace with Mom. Dad? I can only imagine what it’d be like if you were still here. Truly, Dad, I miss you a lot.

Just saw the movie today with 40 of my church family. It was so well done. Very raw. Very emotional. Very sad. Very tearful. BUT GOD. He touched Bart's father and the whole relationship changed. This upbeat version of the song just feels like a weight has been lifted off of Bart's shoulders and he can now rejoice that one day he will be reunited with his father and see Jesus face to face. Such a powerful movie.

I just finished watching the movie for the first time. The main take away for me is that "I have to forgive" I hold inside my heart so much hurt that others have caused me, never getting back the love that I put out. Always considering and helping others, but no one considers or helps me. Life is too short. As a christian I want every aspect of my life to be pleasing to God! This song started getting popular around the time one of my best childhood friend's dad passed away. He was like an extra dad to me. They played this song at his funeral, and to this day i cannot hear this song without a few tears welling in my eyes. . I just finished reading Bart's book about his life with his father, and i watched the movie back when it first came out. Both were so good! Praise God for the work He does in peoples lives to turn them back to Him. Praise God for His salvation!! ❤

This song touched my heart a few years ago, it felt like it was for me. Then they made the movie inspired by his life which made the song. I'm not gonna give the story away but take some tissues! I think I cried all the way through it cause too it was my life! I think our stories are so much similar is why it hurts so bad. The only difference is I mourned my parents, and there still alive out there somewhere! Now my only father, is the Good Father Above, the only one in my eyes that matters, may God be with all the children abused, put this song in there life, to help heal!

This song crushed me. I cried so hard. Such a beautiful song. We all should hum this song daily just to remind us all of God's love. Similar to my life. Sadly my father died not believing in Jesus Christ or God. I begged him to take Jesus Christ and God into his heart. He didn't, would not. I fear he is in purgatory. Thankfully, my mother raised us to believe in God. She is in heaven. I know it. I worship privately these days. I am not perfect. I need to pray more. Most importantly, I need to forgive and not judge. A flaw I bear. This song, as a minister told me once, long ago, when you pray, walk into the house of the Lord, hear a song like this, you feel a presence, a feeling of joy, happiness, a faith that covers you in peace. That's God speaking to you. I believe that. I love the Lord, God, my faith. I pray I will receive his blessing someday and see the family I lost, again. Thanks be to God. Amen! I love you guys. I love this song. This song is true in every lyric. I lost my mom and that was the hardest thing I ever faced. I loved her and she was my best friend. She loved and adored this song . When we first heard it we cried and the song just touched us deeply. I know my mom is in Heaven looking down on me she will be in my heart forever. This song helped change my life to a better happy and healthy life. I love Mercy Me. They are a band with much emotions and I just love them and I will love the movie too.

The movie is amazing, if you haven't seen it by now then I'd highly suggest it. It's the only time I've ever cried while watching a movie, much less four times in one sitting while in a public movie theater
