I swear there's a secret society of contractors where they all agree to say 'heighth' as some kind of secret handshake ritual. ;)

It’s bizarre how that’s crept in so much over the last few years. It’s peculiar to the US dialect but it’s just not a word :)

It is nice that many of your add-ons moved from saw to saw with minimal issues. Having 48" capacity on the slider is a real benefit for any shop handling sheet goods. Adding 8" on the extension wing is another good plan. I like that you added the auxiliary power outlet for the router with an option to add a power feeder at a later date. Have a Blessed New Year

When I was using a PCS in my temporary gara-shop, I did bolt my BenchDog cast iron router top to the right side cast iron wing with no issue. SS PCS is pretty standard with OEM mounting holes, etc.

Hey Donavan , as always great solutions. What tools did you use for drilling the holes in metal?

Just a cordless dewalt drill and some metal drill bits

Hey Don, if you can't find your tape measure, it's in your outfeed table ;) I can't believe how many tape measures I've lost over the years, and they've never left the house. I think they've eloped with all the odd socks from the laundry.

Don when you were putting these two together, did you happen to note how close the machining on Grizzly Cast Iron Tables are to the Sawstop? I've got a G0771 and came upon a Sawstop fence and rail system and I'm thinking about putting that on the Grizzly.
@donavanshomes Жыл бұрын
I kept the rail that came with the Sawstop. The tables can hole match up between my two saws so your should to. Does that answer your question?
@gusgusnft8231 Жыл бұрын
What did you have to modify to get the Cool Tools fence to work? I’ve got a Grizzly G1023RL with the 52” rails and I hate the fence plastic sides since they are slightly bowed!

I already have a router table but have thought I would buy the router table for SawStop because you can get a cast iron filler table and completely avoid any laminate table. All cast iron top. Good enough reason and the bonus router table fits the JessEm insert. I’m sure I’d use it doing round-overs only or something.

Assuming your saw came with a left table wing that you omitted for the sliding table, could that be used as a filler to bring the router table out?
@donavanshomes Жыл бұрын
I could but is to big and would have had to extend the rails

My view is that with the positioning of the slide it sticks too far back from the table top. I have some experiences with sliding saws - five different ones from the cheap semi-pros like urs to a big fully electronically operated panel from Italy costing a house. My take is (if you saw as most of us by standing to the left of and definitively not directly behind the saw blade when you rip. Then you need a short as possible distance btw where you stand and the blade. The relatively large cast iron table to the left of blade doesn't allow for that and you have to reach uncomfortably too far over for rip cuts. On the other hand, since you keep the Grizzly you can do rips on that and dedicate the SawStop to cross cuts and panels. Good luck and "Have a Good New Year" (as we say in Norway)

Glad you got your triple Hybrid (haha) put together and seem very happy with it. I would like to have had your old grizzly because my craftsman direct drive 10” 2 HP just died on me after 30 years. My fault, I was feeding wood in from the back for a special cut. Go visit Matt and don’t forget the donuts! BTW, why did you get the guard and then the saw stop? Did you have a close call? I was doing dado’s a few years ago and got overconfident for a split second. Lost two fingers. Hope your business is going well !

I just want to upgrade the saw and have a little more safety, my grandfather was a carpenter most of his life and was very safety conscious. He lost a part of his thumb in his 60s . I will bring donuts next time I am at Matt’s

Hi Donovan, Really great video as always. I've been following you since I discovered you on Matt's channel. I wanted to provide a little bit of constructive feedback. I think it would take your videos up a notch if you replaced your "ums" with silence. I'm in Toastmasters working on my public speaking and I've learned that silence sounds a lot better than filler words like "uh". Anyway, just a suggestion. Your videos are fantastic as they are, so feel free to ignore me 🙂

Nice :) If it was me, I would move the router table over and add in an interior spacer. That way you dont have the frame rails just hanging out in the way, and you dont have to cut into the rails for the miter slots. I like the customization of the saw to fit what you want vs the standard, and that you didnt want to spent tons of $ just to not use what you already liked. That kind of thinking is why I made my own mobile base for my sawstop contractor saw: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2eYdWNsebhnpKM as that way it rolls in both x-y directions vs the ones they sell of which the cheaper only goes one direction. Unless you go up to the $400 fancy one which can do both.
@johnmears3454 Жыл бұрын
After 37years as a wood patternmarker I still have all my fingers. I think most injuries on the table saw are self inflicted. Not using the blade guard is probably the biggest factor. Every time I used the table saw I had to reinstall the blade guard. You obviously use yours the biggest reason sawstop sells is because of shop liability shop owners protecting them selves. Keep your head on straight the saw you had was as good as they come
@donavanshomes Жыл бұрын
I do agree yet my grand father preached safety all of the time and after he retired after being 2nd generation carpenter cut his thumb badly on a table saw. I am now the 4th generation carpenter and last. The new saw is both better and safer
