On May 11, 2013, Disney Princesses welcomed Merida from Pixar's "Brave" to officially become the 11th Disney Princess, along with Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White, Tiana, and Rapunzel. She was also joined by the first-ever appearance of her mother, Queen Elinor. The coronation ceremony took place in front of Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom.

She's very pretty and she walk just like the cartoon version. I like Disney's tendency to explore various cultures with their princess, (and their movies in general) and celtic one's are among my favorites. Next they will probably add the Frozen sisters, and then Moana of polynesia. Say, as the son of Zeus, king of Olympus, isn't Hercules technically a prince? And then doesn't it make his wife a Disney Princess too? How come we never see Megara? Somewhere in the future, I'd like to see a japanese princess, but I'm curious how far they could manage to differenciate her from Mulan while still making her kickass. The whole loyalty to the ruler and the family was pretty strong in feudal japan as much as in ancient china. Maybe some sort of bow wielding priestress, but she'd then have to be distinct from Merida as well.

Well, technically Hercules became a god like his father...so that doesn't make him a prince. At least, that would be my explanation of why Meg wouldn't be considered a princess. She's still one of the coolest female Disney characters though :) And yes, I would love to see even more Disney Princesses from around the world! :D

Erika M His father is king of the gods, that should make Hercules prince of the gods in this version. (not in actual mithology since almost the whole pantheon is born from Zeus and they are all related somehow.) Also, Hercules didn't become a god, even tough he could have, he choose a mortal life along side Megara on earth.

And Elsa is far from the perfect doll, she freezes the entire country and stabs Anna in the heart with ice. But at last she was trying to get Anna out of the castle befóre this'd happen. Merida just took her sword and tried seeing how far she could go with her mother and then decided it'd be a good idea to destroy a family-heritage. Elsa would never destroy family-heritage.

they make their costumes to fit multiple girls and they have to be cheap enough to mass produce and tough enough etc. not to mention they have to be comfortable and maintain their look for much longer then the short usage of those better cosplays. they look quite good actual but many of those cosplays are touched up in photoshop but they also put a lot of time into them to be worn short amount of time and for pics and then they put it away so they don't have a function just looks. its also helps if they get a good person to play them....some are just meh.

Mulan is a princess by title, rather than royalty. Back in ancient China, a woman who came from a very noble family (or received the highest honor like Mulan) were nicknamed princesses. So yes, Mulan is considered a princess.

Ok. Snow White, Aurora(Sleeping Beauty), Ariel, Jasmine, Rapunzel, and Merida are princesses. Pocahantas was the Native American equivalent of a princess. Cinderella, Belle, and Tiana married princes. Anna and Elsa from Frozen are going to be official soon. Mulan should not be in the list. Ones who should are Eilonwy from Black Cauldron, Kida from Atlantis, Melody from The Little Mermaid II and Sofia from Sofia the First. Jane Porter from Tarzan is sort of one because of Tarzan being adopted by the leaders of the jungle. Megara from Hercules might be one if Hercules counts as a prince. Nancy from Enchanted plus Ting-Ting, Su, and Mei from Mulan II could count if secondary characters are eligible.

I see how Merida can be a Pixar princess but not a Disney one. Just like Disney owns Marvel. They can't just add Disney characters in Marvel movies anytime they want. Pocahontas is an actual princess, she´s the chief´s daughter, andt Merida is an actual princess because she's the celtic king of those tribes, so they are princesses, Mulan is not a princess but she's too close to the chinese emperor, so that´s why she´s treated as a princess too

Than again I know that Elsa is a queen, but why can't Anna be a Disney princess? I know Frozen is so popular that Disney wants to market it as a separate franchise. But wouldn't they get more money if they marketed Anna as both a Frozen character AND a Disney princess?

+Andrew Asaro maybe once the Frozen sub-brand starts fading away and starts to become part of the Disney Princess franchise they can finally induct Anna into the Disney Royal Court. Maybe for the coronation they can have something like they did for Merida where they had her mother, the Queen, place the crown on Merida's head, making her part of the Princesses. They can have Elsa do the coronation for Anna since Elsa is a queen. Maybe Disney will find a way to incorporate both of them into it but it would be nice to see Elsa place the crown on Anna and have her inducted into the Disney Royal Court.

I consider Mulan a princess because the emperor of China thought highly of her, she was like his right hand (woman) man. She saved China and his daughters in the 2nd movie. Also she married a highly respected general. I believe she should get credit as a Disney Princess. Same for Pocahontas. She was the chiefs daughter and a chief is like a king. They were both independent and strong woman. I love the choices for the Disney princesses!

UhDUUUHlol Dude, I'm going off of the story; Mulan was a warrior who "stoler her father's armor, ran away from home, impersonated an imperial soldier…" No where in the story was she a princess; YES, she was a strong warrior, and hardcore at that, but NO WHERE in the story was she ever a princess. I DO NOT dislike Mulan, I lover her and the movie, but she was never a princess. Pocahontas was more of a princess than she was, which is why I don't mention her. She was a chief's daughter- a chief is a king by definition. Standard has got nothing to do with it, if by standard meaning big dress, castle and prince, it has to do with the story line; which not only did not include her as a princess, but wasn't even catering towards that audience, hence why Mulan was a much more intense, females-lead story. I love Mulan and have no issue with her walking around the Disney parks, but choosing to make her a princess was a little forced. Not saying this is the message they're conveying, but not every strong woman has to be a princess. Ya dig? *sorry, spoke from other account by accident.
