I would suggest the Merkur 15 C it’s an open comb razor but the handle is reminiscent of the Gillette open comb razors of the early 1900s

Nice shave sig, When I saw 'open comb'I thought we might have the piccolo from Fatip, now THAT is more efficient, and if you see tracks from the comb from it, you're not putting the blade edge at the angle to cut the whiskers. Another ting is the handle is even shorter I believe that the two Merkurs of today, so be aware. Looking forward to 'Tiny Tuesday' now. stay well and don't get washed away by the melt water there.

@@petercooke3671 Haha!! In the 80’s I was the World Champion of anything or I could become it within a week. (Little did I know!😜) I was refering to the products I’m going to use in the shave. Boy George, hmmm That’s a difficult one to do. (He has a shaved head now I think). I don’t think I could pull it of😆. On a side note people might think I was making fun of him or mocking. I would never make fun of anyone at their expense. And I was/am actually a big fan of all the mid 80’s musicians and the epic music made there. I have an amazing razor. I found a soap with the scent of the most used cologne in the end of the 80’s and a matching balm... I’m a really looking forward to it!! That scent brings back so many memories of my ‘World Champion’ day... 🤙

@@justSomeChap Thanks, Buddy! And welcome! The Merkur 42C is the the model also called 1906. It’s a replica of the Gillette 1906 Solid bar Razor. It’s the old style handle and is a beautiful razor. I’m not able to buy from Amazon, so I’m not able to say if it’s the correct one. However Amazon has really stepped up their DE razor sales, so I guess it’s the correct one. It’s a great razor, but a bit small handled compared to other Merkur razors. I hope you choose the correct one you want. Thanks for watching! Have a great New Year! 🤙 #WAD

@@SIGSOLO you’re welcome! And haha yeah, those razors are no joke… they will let you know real quick if you have the wrong blade in them, or if your technique is a bit off… I know I can’t daily shave with an R41, it’s just too aggressive for that. A great weekend so far here my man!

Thank you, brother! Yes, the handle is difficult to hold on to with my big hands. But it looks great with all the details and the effort put into the design of it. For me it's more of a show-piece. Yes, the big 5-0 is coming up, soon. I might at some point shoot a little outside. But shaving outside I don't think. When the weather is warm enough the mosquitoes are everywhere and ready to feast. Nice videos. You mentioned the 34C, a good #focusshave would be the 42C versus the 34C since they are supposed to be the same head in a different form (2 piece vs 3 piece), always wondered about that, as I prefer to be able to change my handle (never tried either). Maybe the 42C / 33C / 23C are underrated razors, compared to the the always talked 34C.

Thank you, Brother! I 'd heard people talk about the two razors and I would say with my experience the OC 41C is an excellent starter OC razor. I even find the 34C more efficient than it. Maybe I was being extra careful with it without noticing it; but for me the CC 42C was a clear winner!! I'll be watching your vid this evening. Hi Andy, Welcome here in comment section! 🤜💥🤛 The 41C,15C and the 11C(from the Friday live with Tobins) Are all considered very mild razors. Their head are by many regarded as identical. They are therefore often mentioned in Forums as great OC beginner razors. And I Agree. I love the handle on the 41C (1904) with it's old style patterns. Thanks for watching! Nice Comparison Sig, maybe a bit trial and error on your angle, the short handle could be changing the head to a steeper than usual angle "pushing" the blade away from the stubble - Maybe?

#1. Right of the top, I am forgetting something and it's bugging me...So at some point in the future when I make some random and seemingly off topic comment, you'll know why.. ;-) #2. I don't have big hands but I have very long fingers. I am the envy of many auto mechanics. :D I have often been asked if I am musician because of that and the reason I mention it here; is that I find that I have very good dexterity with any length handle. I don't have Mekur of the type used in this video but I do have a Orak whose handle shape, decoration and length is identical and I can maneuver that razor like a motorcycle anywhere on my face. #3. Ordinarily, I would find something to tease you about in your shaves but you did this one so exceptionally flawlessly; I can not pick at you plus, I am sitting here resisting the urge to scratch. I got dose #2 of Pfizer's Covid 19 vaccine and the inoculation site abruptly started itching today(1.5 days after getting the shot)and it is driving me crazy #3a, still waiting on the article of clothing to arrive before self indulgent cowboy picture taking.. ;-) Adios....

But with my old cold-damaged hands the small handle is a challenge. Just like when I have to work with the small pearls with my daughter on the pearl-plate... Not pretty. ;O). - What that's it? Please seek a doctor, that vaccine has clearly had an unforseen side-effect that might need a doctor's attention. ;O) Joking aside; I don't know I'll ever get the Covid Shot, here. Sir you missed a huge spot on your chin! 😀 You have a good gentleman's face, why cover the chin? The Enjoyment of DE shaving would be much better if you didn't have to go around the outlined area on your chin! You know it would be much more relaxing with a Full face to shave to add to the Wet Shaving experience instead of having "no shave" areas. Best of luck Cheers!
