I was really upset with the way Merlin treated Mordred and when I listened to this song I thought it was fit.

Good example of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Merlin was in a bit of a cunundrum. 10yrs earlier the dragon said the boy Mordred would thwart his destiny. Simply on the whim of the dragon's assessment Merlin couldn't just kill the boy. Merlin would be a monster if he did. When Mordred returned to Camelot as an adult Merlin was very suspicious and didn't had it in him to give Mordred the benefit of the doubt. Befriending Mordred would require a leap of faith of a magnitude only a few of us would be lucky to pull off. We can't really blame Merlin.

@@ydjda.2634 Kilgharrah was very good in manipulating Merlin. If you were a ruthless killer who terminates any potential threat to your 'destiny' the first chance you get you might avoid many risks Merlin took. However, you cannot know in advance what unintended consequences your actions have yet alone the horrors you inflict on others and on your soul. Merlin was right in not killing mindlessly just because the great dragon told him so.

Merlin tried to protect Arthur from his destiny but all he managed was to make the prophecy come true.Mordred did was he was meant to do.That's why he smiled....

I always felt bad for Mordred. I mean I understand Merlin's hostility. Mordred is the one man who he has foreseen to take the life of the man he loves. Of course he's going to be protective. But still. Mordred only wanted to be loyal. It was sad to see this happen. But perfectly written and appropriate for the show. The reason we fall in love with characters, even if they end up being the perpetrator, is because the writers make us feel their pain. Absolute perfection if you ask me.

Exactly! He prove his loyalty time and time again and all Merlin did was treat him like a disease. Merlin should’ve listened to Gaius and befriended Mordred. Morgana treated him with respect and actually cared about him unlike Merlin and Arthur who betrayed him by killing his love. I don’t blame him for deciding to join Morgana and get vengeance
