This was kino, I'm more invested in this series than most shows honestly. I really appreciate how there are frequent moments of quiet where the environment speaks for itself, something sorely lacking in modern cartoons where everything is always fast-paced and loud. I love how Sam lured the mermaid with his music and then we get a shot of him catching a fish. This is basically saying without words that for him the only difference between catching a mermaid and a fish is the bait used. I think (and this is speculation) that the reason mermaids are advised against interacting with humans is because pirates are almost exclusively the only ppl who know of their existence. Aquatic people wouldn't know about all the humans living deeper inland who might not see them as a source for profit. Ari's faith in humans might be misplaced but it isn't naive. But who knows? I read Sam as someone who is conflicted between doing what his father expects of him and pursuing his forbidden love with Ari.

This is actually amazing. There is something about this short episode that makes it feel like you actually dove underwater and are in the world of the mermaids. The music fits perfectly with every scene, and I love the quiet little break ups you put in between scenes where it's almost just an ambience of the area. Good storyline too, I find the characters of the queens very mysterious and I want to find out more about their backstories. Keep up this amazing work!
