Okay I like the winning animations of Kirby, Bandana Waddle Dee, and Meta Knight but I just still don’t like the club penguin design of King Dedede he just looks so ugly and horrible I would prefer the original or the Star Allies design and not the club penguin design and I hope HAL Laboratory and Nintendo do not keep this club penguin design of King Dedede throughout the Kirby Series

From what I heard in an interview, I believe they choose this particular design because it's more popular in Japan, the Forgotten Land Model at least. At the end of the day, his design is subjective and there are plenty of people that are fans of it.

I like this design because it just looks better than the past three. RTDL Dedede didn't look imposing enough. I couldn't buy him stealing all of Dreamland's food, or looking threatening when possessed. TD/PR looks just plain weird. There's something about his face that just looks off putting. Star Allies Dedede looks good, but his proportions are weird. His neck and arms look to long for my liking. In my mind, Dedede needs to be large and in charge. He is a glutton who towers over his subjects. He should be twice Kirby's size, not slightly taller than him. TFL Dedede is both physically massive, and a titan compared to Kirby & the waddles. Also I just like the structure of his face more than the other Dededes.
