There's always one. Being a native of Colchester I've seen this happen several times. Driving (or not) across the Strood is a matter of common sense; however that seems to be strangely absent at times in this part of Essex.

I am a taxi driver and the amount of arguments i have had with selfish passengers expecting me to go through it.. when i tell them it's not happening they can get quite arsy about it!!!!

It seems if its not their car they don't care. There are a few selfish people out there that make the rest of us look bad. You need your car for your work. Its not worth the risk

Great drone footage here! I was out paddle boarding on a high tide the other day and ended up helping the RNLI rescue a car that got stuck which made for an interesting video! 🌊🚙🏄🏼

Why did they not just build a bridge rather than just a road 1 metre above the sea?
@porcupine460Ай бұрын
Because it was built by the Romans when sea levels were lower! Also the height of the tide is variable - it doesn't cover every day

Would it really be so hard to have a traffic light that turns red during high tide periods?
@justharryjohnson72503 жыл бұрын
No..... that would make to much sense lol. they need to do something.

There are no signs at all to make drivers aware of how deep the water can get !
@ExplorewithSarahlouiseАй бұрын
@@shauntaylor9251yes I want to visit tmrw and although I’ve looked at tide times I’m still pretty nervous because it’s not something I’m familiar with having to use.
@porcupine460Ай бұрын
@@shauntaylor9251 there are several signs saying 'warning beware when tide covers footway'. This is because the road is actually raised in the middle, so the outside of the road is covered before the inside. This *should* give drivers adequate warning, as should the water depth markers along the road that go up to 6ft!
