The best preserved Ottoman Town of the World, Gjirokaster, with its current Albanian name, Gjirokaster, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is located in the south of the country of Albania. It is a city with a soul and is so rich in history that you can smell the history while visiting the houses of families such as Zekate and Skanduli. Gjirokaster and Berat are one of the places where the Ottoman Empire left its traces and architecture the most in Albania, where the Ottoman Empire ruled for 500 years. With an old bazaar area, mosques and Ottoman style houses, it continues to keep Turkish culture alive. Anyway, Albanians here also know many Turkish words. Gjirokaster, or Ergiri, is also the birthplace of names such as Enver Hoxha (Enver Hoxha), who ruled Albania with communism and atheism after the 1960s, and the famous writer Ismail Kadare. Gjirokaster, the city of Ergiri, was not only a home for the Ottomans but also hosted many civilizations and empires. One of them is the Byzantine Empire.
