Giving the Mesa Boogie Stiletto Deuce Stage II the ol' college try!
This amp is not without it's quirks, but it certainly never got the attention it deserved! Mesa's take on a modded Marshall type tone, and the predecessor to the Triple Crown Series.
My signal chain for this video is
Gibson Les Paul w/ 498t Bridge Pickup - ISP Decimator - MXR M77 Badass Modified Overdrive - Stiletto - Mesa 412 Traditional Cab - SM57 - Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen

I love this amp! It's my favorite amp. I run a Peppers Dirty Tree into it and I like that but what I like more than that is the Airis Savage Drive V5 into it. I back the gain off in the Fluid Drive mode to about 10 O'clock and turn up the Savage control to about 1 O'clock-2 O'clock, volume all the way up, low to 9 o'clock, high to 2-3 o'clock, low mid 10 o'clock, and high mid 2-3 o'clock...bam! Metal as fuck! I love the thickness of the Bare Knuckle Ragnaroks and I've got another guitar with Duncan Black Winters in them through a Marshall 1960 can loaded with EV Black Label EV12Ls. Dude, it sounds so good. I love the clean channel on it too. I've been hunting around and trying out different reverb pedals with it. Right now Ive been using a T.C. Electronic Hall Of Fame 2, and I like it but....I don't "love" it. I was thinking of the larger Hall of Fame 2 2X4 or the MXR M300. I want something that does "haunting" sounding clean tones and be able to use it for the dirty channel to do "black metal-ish" stuff and be able to do some really "pretty" sounding clean stuff. If ya have any suggestions that would be cool?

Do it! This is my favorite amp! I've owned Dual Rectifiers of all kinds, a rev D, rev F, rev G, 3 channel, 3 channel multi watt, mini Rectifier, Mark IV A, Mark IV B, Mark IIIs (4 different ones), DC-3, DC-5, DC-10, a Stiletto Trident (fist stage), Laney Iron Heart IRT15, Marshall JCM 800, JCM 800 Kerry King, Vintage Modern, Bogner Uberschall, Peavey 6505+, 6505 112, fender Twin Reverb, Fender Deluxe Reverb, Peavey Bandit 112, Carte Blue VooDoo 120, Fender solid state amp of some sort that I can't remember, Fender Blues Jr, line 6 flextone II&III, line 6 spider IV, line 6 spider valve 1x12, line 6 amplifi 150 and I absolutely love my Stiletto Duce! It was never really popular. I think people found them hard to dial in, an I don't think that they are for everyone. They don't have the low end that the Dual and Triple Rectifiers have

Hey man, I have a stage 1 with the Hollywood/fluid drive mod and I love it. I'll never sell it, that and my titan. I was always curious about what the stage 2 sounds like. From what I can tell the 2 sounds more compressed. A modded stage 1 sounds very much like a modded 2203 in tite gain mode and fluid drive mode sounds like a really cool hybrid of a 800 and a recto. Its not super modern sounding but its extremely versatile in all the sounds you can get, I've never played a more versatile amp that can make so many big jumps in its tonal variation.

they really do have an insane amount of usable tones built in! As long as you can dial with your ears and not your eyes, this amp will be very rewarding!

I was just fucking loving what you were getting out of this amp and then was like Fuck yeah! I have one!! Lol. I’ve had my stage II for nearly 15 years and it’s the Marshall, Marshall needed to make but just didn’t seem able to. It rewards good right hand and the clarity in all riffs and notes is so good, especially when you’re going to double track, add bass, drums, vocals etc. the only thing it could use is a little more bass but that is adjusted easily with a little bump from an EQ in the loop or post EQ in recording. Really nice rhythm playing on this one too.

I’ve got an original unmodded stage 1 Trident. My guess is a bunch still exist and are gathering dust like mine. It was stab at seeing if Mesa could get late 70’s EVH tone. It certainly still looks cool and is very well built. I’m more of a power amp overdrive guy but this is still a great video that sounds great.

Dude you've got some top tier quality to these demos. Keep it up and just demo all the amps you got. You do a good job at capturing the sound that most need to hear before pulling the trigger on an amp. I've had my eye on this one myself. Good job brother, like I said keep going

I’ve got a Stiletto Ace combo I use a Maxon ST-9 pro+ (Gary Holt, Phil Chicano from Monster Magnet) as a boost and Boss GE-7 EQ in the effects loop. Sounds just like your video. Otherwise the tones are definitely more classic rock or raw sounding without those 2 helpers. My only gripe is that it doesn’t sound as huge or beefy as my old Peavey 5150 combo did. This is way more versatile though.

If you ever get the chance to a Mesa dual rec racktifer get it! I’ve played on Mike Hasty’s a few times and it’s still my Mesa tone. I was actually shocked he’s always ran EL-34’s in all these years. It still has a ton of low end and a gnarly midrange that I haven’t heard from very few old school 2 channel versions.
