I am seeking my roots. My mother was so ashamed of her people that it wasn't until recently she told me I was Mescalero Apache...I grew up thinking I was mexican! I feel robbed of my heritage how dare she!

Show sympathy for her. The older generation was mind warped in thinking our heritage was something to be ashamed of.

Even as a child I always wondered how we “discovered” a land that was already inhabited by people. Taken land but we don’t hear them cry for handouts.

NMduke his point was that you hear about blacks who still think they deserve reparations for the crimes against their ancestors. And they do cry. That’s what his last sentence was in reference to. All people everywhere have gone through extreme hardships. We have to move on and move forward. Can’t live in the past. Especially centuries ago.

@@leefrancis4565 its called 'Nomadic.....and the number of indigenous that were true nomadic is actually rather small. Most indigenous tribes were nomadic within territory not nomadic without borders. The concept of 'owning' land is a European concept that indigenous had zero need for.

Ndn let's not right our selves out of History. Let's not block post Colombian Americans from assimilating to the land since it is obvious they're not going to be leaving soon. Let's not block ourselves from reconciliation by being ethnocentric and refusing people from connecting to Mother Earth. American Indian if you're born here you're a native

Sorry for the Indian reference in the title, but it did get a lot of attention. I have a follow up video titled Mescalero Apache Spirit. The video go's into more detail about the Dark years and correctly refers to the American natives not the indians.
