Now that I have the build of these devices under my belt its time to start experimenting with the modules that can be attached. Since my main device is on the roof and solar powered i want to add a camera if possible to keep an eye on the sky at night. I plan to install a normal outdoor camera but if this works it might be what I am looking for in a cheapo package.

The devices didin't show up for me. But thanks to your video i found the Silicon Labs CP210x driver that solved the issue.

Hi, good video. TLS: secure connection HTTPS:// I have bricked one by accidentally unplugging it during flashing and it is an easy recovery just by flashing it again. I had an IPEX plug with a short cable, it was an antenna for an RC car receiver, I soldered a 47 ohm resistor on it so it works as a dummy load when experimenting, easier and safer than the antenna. I have a GPS and Environment board (£3 eBay) on one of my Heltek boards, gives temperature and air pressure, that one is going on the top of my radio mast as a repeater once IT STOPS RAINING. Tech Minds KZbin has a good video on adding the environment board. Meshtastic is fun and cheap. 73 Ron

I have tried about 8 different cables that all work with other devices to transmit data but I cannot get my computer to recognize my heltec v3. Anyone have any suggestions? Super frustrating

Do you mean serial connect to your pc if so turn on serial connection in Radio settings .

You also need the correct serial driver. The Meshtastic Documentation page has information on which driver to use

@@justgregm7843and I know for myself I had to manually update the board after the driver was installed. I have no idea why it did not automatically update.

Regarding the V3 vs 3.1 version, apparently 3.1 boards have problems with the OLED compared to the 3.0 version. (Have a google)

I am discouraged at the moment. My exact heltec v3 will not pair bluetooth no matter what i do. i can't connect to it to set region, etc.

Maybe it's in wifi mode

@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones I believe you called it on that. i connected to the device as a serial connection and did some basic setup. i dont think everything is in place just yet, but got past that error anyway.

Sounds like u need to load the USB driver look on Meshtastic site .
