@harrymanbach Жыл бұрын
A lot of his weird lead tone comes from some odd pedals like the Mothership.
@mr.nervedamage7463 Жыл бұрын
@@harrymanbach that's interesting. Is that a newer pedal? I'm wondering, since he's had that amazing (almost keyboard sounding) lead tone since their first couple of albums in the 90s. Check out his lead tone on old songs like Soul Burn and Acrid Placidity to see what I mean. It's a very subtle tone, but extremely unique at the same time. I've heard thousands of bands and no lead tone sounds quite like his.
@harrymanbach Жыл бұрын
@@mr.nervedamage7463 That would be the homemade "breathe" MIDI controller Fred had made. With whatever processor he was using it gave the leads a tone like a wind instrument. That was the original idea, but even with tuning as low as a bass, it still doesn’t sound like a bass. Also there have been baritone guitars used in the industry for longer than metal music has been around so 🤷🏽♂️ it’s more about the timbre and attack of the instrument than the pitches being played
