first time I heard Meshuggah was when Swedish radio aired one of their live sets on a show called P3 Live. This was before Destroy Erase Improve was released, so around 93-95. I recorded the show on my cassette player and listened over and over to this song. Been a fan since! Also, good job

I remember back when I was a wee little laddie in 2004 with Killswitch Engage, Korn, SoaD, Static-X, Linkin Park and Disturbed on my playlist at the time. Then I found the name "Meshuggah" somewhere, found it super badass, so I downloaded Chaosphere... And then I promptly shat myself, like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS, and I was completely obsessed with them for the next 6 months. They were 6000 levels above everyone else, I had never heard anything like them before. This shit still sounds super modern and alien, even after almost 30 years since its release. Absolute god tier band.

I love Meshuggah's music, and I know their songwriting is always intricate and borderline insane. However, this song specifically is just fucking nuts. Also, holy shit this aged like fine wine. That breakdown in the middle of the song is literally insane. It's perfectly placed in the song to just feel like a kick in the face when you listen to it. Wish ppl would do more old meshuggah, still waiting for someone to cover “Ritual” that’s the first song I’ve heard that got me hooked. Love that they changed and found the “sound” but love that album till this day.

Dude that was so awesome! The sound and playing were literally 100% perfect in every way. The whole song is great, but the solo section on this is one of my favorites. That was really cool to watch, thanks a lot.

I still have to dive more into Meshuggah's older stuff but I love how much this sounds like the opener from VoM's new album during the first seconds, I wonder if they were really thinking of this song or it was just coincidence

It's deeper than "thinking of this song", it's an unavoidably pervasive presence in the collective subconscious of that genre of guitar players!
