Technical superiority over most bands , poly rhythms , played perfectly . In a nut shell , brutal as fuck , beautiful lyrics , almost ethereal cathedral like lead work. Perfect hybrid of technology and musicianship. Amazing band . Would recommend catch 33 👍

I’ve been a Meshuggah fan since 1995, and y’all had the same reaction I did when this dropped. Fucking goosebumps. BTW all their eerie sounds that sound like synth are actually guitars, as far as I know. Enjoy continuing down this rabbit hole. Check out their song Future Breed Machine if you want to see where they came from nearly 30 years ago. Their mark on metal, and even music in general, cannot be overstated. They are a group of consummate professionals that continue to push the boundaries of sounds. They’re the band that made 8 string guitars the norm and they’re the band that made jazz such a huge part of their sound without actually sounding like jazz. I love your reactions. Have a good evening.

First time experiencing a new song drop by Meshuggah, this song is so good. Some Meshuggah fans will say this is nothing special, pretty basic for Meshuggah. But come on man, this song has so much energy, the production is top notch, have had this one my playlist since it dropped. Game Over!!
@Egoblivion
@Egoblivion 2 жыл бұрын
I like that perspective! Fan since '02 here and they are doing some new things. They're constantly evolving but still want to sound like "Meshuggah." Something like "Bleed" was sudden because of the 32nd kick hertas throughout most of the song. For the rest though they like to sneak changes that seem subtle at first but become total groove changers. It's weird right?
@rosswoodland6449

@@Egoblivion Good call. Hertas galore on bleed. Something about the pocket they just stay in until you're forced to figure out where the "1" is.
@Egoblivion
@Egoblivion 2 жыл бұрын
@@rosswoodland6449 Yes and I hate to be that guy but after so many years of listening, you get used to it being based on 4/4, where the 1 is easy to find because, 80% of the time, the snare is hitting on the common backbeat, 2 and 4. It's the odd-time riffs that are hard to figure out/predict. When the snare starts syncopating with the riff (not on 2 and 4) that's when I get lost. Sometimes they'll abruptly chop the end of a odd note grouping so that after 16 bars the beginning of the riff resolves back on the 1 and sometimes they'll let it play through...Love it! Haha!

The thing about Meshuggah that catches me every time is that, even with all the unbelievably heavy guitars, vocals, drums, production, you name it.. Every single one of their songs are so intensely meditative.. If you take a second and just sit and listen to what's going on.. It puts you in some kind of trance.. Regardless of how heavy it is.. I have yet to come across a band that achieves the same affect for me.. For that.. They have the top spot in my list of undeniable Gods..

Meshuggah is one of the very few bands where I can still remember the first time I heard them. I was at an FYE sampling metal albums on one of their listening stations and picked up Destroy, Erase, Improve. I was hooked right from the start so I bought it immediately. After listening to it all that evening I found out that Chaosphere had just released so I went back the next day and bought that one, too. It's been an amazing ride ever since.

Something about this single made me extremely hopeful for the new record, I feel like this was much better than anything off their last album and this is just one single. The guitar (and bass drum) breaks in the verse are like tiny air bubbles you get while drowning in a dark abyss of djent. AND THE OUTRO IS PURE MADNESS. They absolutely smashed this one.
