Shame they didnt save the forge across the street. My family worked it since shortly after the Civil War until the 1990s. Would have been real proud to have seen it fixed up (it was, admittedly, past its prime last I saw it a few years ago), or a reproduction of it.

When I first encountered the Temple in Kirtland, I felt driven to learn more. Then, reading about their early history, it was fascinating that they were so heavily persecuted in violation of the 1st Amendment. Heartfelt curiosity eventually took me to the Visitor's Center, where I was taught for almost three months before I had to leave and move on to another assignment. The time there was greatly encouraging, literally saving my life. I became a member eventually and remained so for 5 years. Sadly, along the way I found out that in their mind my sins were too deep, and I could never be a full member. It hurts too much to continue with them and Sunday if I attend, I will tender my resignation from the church that I was unworthy of. It is a mystery to me that the Missionaries work so hard to get new members, and the General Authority seems to search for ways to run us off. This is sad, very sad.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had to go through this. I wish I better understood. The only think I can say is like Nephi: "I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things." I wish I could give you a better answer, but I do know God loves you. No question on that. I hope the best for you.

unworthy? All of us are unworthy, including president Nelson. Every single one of us fall short of the Glory of God. We are all sinners and in need of a savior. Thankfully Jesus came to save us even in our sin. If only we put our faith and trust in Him. He makes us clean through our faith but we are only human and we will and do fall short. Rest easy in the love Jesus has for you.
