BUT, BonJovi - there is so much to be thankful for: The GREAT ORGAN was not burned; the main walls and the flying buttresses stand in place. The artifacts are protected and most of all, no one was burned or killed. Heros are the French Firemen!

Anolypus Malonym Co do śpiewów każdy ma swoje, które lubi, myślę, że jednak tutaj jest równowaga między łaciną a w tym wypadku francuskim. Pamiętajmy też, że Sobór Watykański II nie wyrzucił łaciny z mszy, a wręcz przeciwnie - zachęca by wierni znali przynajmniej części stałe po łacinie. Tylko, że SWII pozwolił na użycie języka ojczystego w liturgii i łacina została wyparta przez ludowiznę, a nawet najgorsze- pitu pitu na gitarkach. Dlatego jeśli chodzi o muzykę liturgiczną i równowagę między łaciną a językiem ojczystym NDP jest liderem.

As someone else wrote, that's the Sanctus. It's beautiful. I heard the first chords of it from the organ and thought: Oh good, they're singing that! It's very stately. It has that lovely descant for the sopranos which they sang beautifully and fortunately without vibrato. From my observations of Notre-Dame de Paris, they sing this particular Sanctus setting on special occasions. Sorry I don't know the name of the composer. I suspect it's on the service leaflet, but we can't see that. Does anyone know the name of the Choirmaster conducting the choristers?

Sharkattackguy Agreed. And a nice altar would be good - I doubt the high altar at the back is used much since Vatican II, but at least that one looks nice.

Both the ambo and the front altar look very 1970s/80s and probably haven't been updated since then. The high altar looks lovely and with the church having gotten into the fact that some things from the old days aren't so bad (hence the returns of traditional architectures, Latin masses, chant, other aspects that for a while were thrown out) they should make more use of it.

buy them longer albs … they have them as short as maternity t-shirts...or let them wear cassocks....take the example of the orthodox brothers...but then the French Church could not be so liberal.
