Are they supposed to smoke like that? I used to own two Messerschmitts back in the 1970s. I was going to try to make one good one out of the two of them but I failed to get either one in roadworthy condition. I ended up selling both cars to the owner's club for next to nothing.

Hi, yes, the smoke is quite common, as it's a two stroke engine. The smoke does reduce considerably when the engine has warmed up. Thanks for watching.

@@peakfreans68 There are low smoke synthetic oils used for older snowmobiles etc. They can be used at lower ratios. Saab Stroker owners often use it.

Hi there you can either use gear oil similar to that used in the gearbox, a non hypodermic (straight) gear oil or engine oil for this. Kind regards
