If you learn Mesmer patterns this becomes dare I say easy but feels very doable. This applies to the final boss as well but it is still extremely difficult because of artificial Difficulty and sheer bullshiteru but both fights are definitely learnable

Pretty much, although my second playthrough boss fights turned out to be amazing so far (except rellana) Dancing Lion was such a vibe, and since there are people like me who can’t get mad at Messmer, he is also going to be very fun. And the rest of the dlc is just suffering basically😭

@@fadedcolors Hmmm if I think about it a bit more, I think I also had a lot of trouble with Lion, I just did not care or forgot because the fight, the visuals and the soundtrack were so good. If those things are good I usually don’t care how many times I die😭but even if Gaius and hippo are easier, I still find them worse because they are just boring as hell. Good job for that Messmer fight bro

after maybe 3 or 4 tries i mostly understood what Messmer was doing in this fight and pretty much my next 50 deaths were 100% my own fault. He's probably the best designed boss in the dlc. The 2nd phase snake shit is kinda annoying tho.

Marika used her son Messmer to get revenge on Hornsents, who kidnapped her own folk and created pot enemies. Then she abandoned him out of shame for his connection with snakes or sth like that. Strength builds are super op. I did first run with faith build and it was really hard but now I'm doing strength and its really easy. Divine beast fell on second time and rellana on third with only one skadutree upgrade. Of course, since it is second playthrough, I already knew their movesets.

Same here, I thought I was gonna be destroy everything as Strength/Faith. I was sooo wrong. I watched people play strength only or mainly strength demolish everything. Maybe pure strength is the way to go lol.

I had 5 characters prepped to run through the DLC, the first I used was pure strength, I've not finished the run, but so far I been wondering why everyone says it is too hard, for me doing the pure strength build, it feels more like a NG+7 base game difficulty to me. when I get to some of my more weaker builds I'll cry then I guess.

@@Somehiguy For me it was like solving a difficult puzzle. What buffs should I get, every time different set of spells, even taking best armour. Other times I had to use summons to deal with some unfair bullshit.

Gotta get your poise up to at least 51. You will get interrupted much less while attacking. Just swap your greaves to get the 51

the pattern is pretty consistent, you just need to spot it early and either get out of there or time it.

@@Triggermangravy mesmer gets a lot easier when you understand that 90% of the time you need to stick to him, which makes sense given he has long range weapon. Rolling backwards will only make it easier for him to catch you
