Messmer and Maliketh Lead Marika's Purge | Elden Ring DLC Pre Release Speculation

some things to support the idea that Marika is a crossbreed of ancient dragon and numen: she at the end of the game literally has stone skin and the most defining characteristic of ancient dragons are stone scales, most of Marika's descendants have connections with dragons, Godwyn befriended one and founded the dragon cult, Morgott and Mogh are omens and we always attribute this only to their descent from Godfrey but what if this comes from both parents? dragons are clearly deeply connected with the crucible and Morgott and Mogh have more crucible features like wings and tails when all the other omens in the game only have horns, the crucible seems much more present in them, perhaps showing a lineage much more connected to the crucible than did we imagine? Rykard eventually becomes aligned with the serpent of Mount Gelmir and we know that snakes are closely linked to dragons in the souls franchise. The same can be said of Messmer who appears to literally have two snakes attached to his body in a way that they seem like an extension of him, he also possesses dragon communion eyes and obviously uses flames, and the prodigy twins at first don't appear to have any connection with dragons until I remembered about seath from dark souls. Seath is a scaleless dragon who has insectoid wings, interestingly both twins have insectoid wings with no explanation behind it, could it be the fact that they are technically "scaleless dragons" if they have this heritage from their mother? Radagon, who is the other half of Marika, also has some connections, he has red hair that is the same color as the red gold representative of the crucible, the meaning of the name Radagon also has connections with dragons, although I couldn't find the exact meaning that the name has. I also find it interesting that one of Radagon's attacks is a bolt of golden light, perhaps inspired by the lightning of his relatives? interestingly Marika in the story trailer also appears to have red hair at the beginning of the trailer which appears to be turning gold, perhaps she also had red hair until she "created the gold and the shadows"? she was apparently not in Radagon form here, as the side of her breast can be seen and Radagon form is much more muscular than Marika

a little controversial but I think the Gloam eyed queen could be Marika's mother, Marika appears to be plucking the golden threads from a body that appears to be wearing clothes similar to those of the godskins and if we assume she is taking the elden ring from the previous god I think this could basically strongly indicate that the Gloam eyed queen was the consort of placidusax and goddess of the previous era, if we were to assume that Melina is the Gloam eyed queen it wouldn't make any sense as she doesn't display any snake characteristics, I don't I think Marika would be stealing godhood from one of her own daughters so the idea that Marika is the daughter seems to fit much better

I believe Melina is the twin sister of Mesmer and the daughter of the Gloam-Eyed Queen and Radagon(Marika). This would explain the whole seduction and betrayal thing as well as the obvious connections Melina hast to Marika and the Gloam-Eyed Queen.

I also think Messmer is the child of the gloam eyed queen and Radagon and this was the seduction and betrayal. Because as it turns out, Radagon is Marika and Marika was positioning herself close to the gloam eyed queen via Radagon. Having Messmer with her. Having Maliketh take the gloam eyed queen out and then taking the strands of the Elden ring away from her, creating her rune arch and giving birth to the erdtree at that mountain of corpses.

I have two theories: the Gloam-Eyed Queen was Placidusax’s god and he was her consort. She had a snake form. Marika is pulling out her grace to become the new god. The Godskin Apostles are the GEQ’s children who survived. Marika’s first child was with the GEQ’s dragon form making Messmer who later lead armies against his dad-mom. My second theory is that the GEQ is the daughter of Placidusax and ancient bird god who just looked like a snake‘s head in the trailer.

Glad I came across your video! Very interesting ideas! I had never considered Placidusax being Marika’s father. Immediately thought of Lansseax. “It is said that she took the form of a human” as well as “Of all the knights, Vyke the Dragonspear was the one Lansseax loved the most.” Maybe the idea of a dragon and a numen (maybe specifically empyrean) being able to reproduce isn’t so wild! Something I thought recently regarding Malikethand Marika’s relationship. Marika betrayed Maliketh and sealed the rune of death with him. Perhaps Renalla is being used very similarly! Marika left the rune of death with Maliketh, to prevent her and her lineage from dying. Only to have Radagon betray Marika by leaving the rune of the Unborn with Renalla. The rune says that it, “Perfects those who have been born anew.” Thus making his inevitable children with Marika to be born imperfect. Resulting in Melania and Miquella. To go further, perhaps Renalla just lacks the additional runes of order required for her offspring be viable. Instead being reborn countless times again. Great video! 🎉

Big Speculation Theory that has no sources whatsoever: The Greater Will and The One Great are basically Order and Chaos respectively. Everything used to burn and melt all into one, until The Greater Will placed upon its aspect of Order. Which in turn created a balance of life and death. The world that inhabited the lands between. During which multiple unknown factions and eras would come and go, one of them being The Shadow Lands which ended up being veiled and hidden away. At some point Marika held a high position in her faction. I assume that this faction aligns itself with Life and Death as it shows hues similar to DeathBlight. Maybe, during this era, at some point Marika had glimpsed upon the Greater Will, upon Order, upon eternal life which had piqued her interest. And as such she waged war in Shadow Lands taking power from multiple beings possibly to somehow create The Lands Between, the golden land. With this, she had shunned everything connected to her faction as well as death and in fact maybe grew to despise or fear it. I think The Greater Will does not align with any Order, as long as it is still an Order. I also believe that it despises chaos as it will mean death of it as well as life in the Lands between. However, too much order is also bad, as seen in the metaphornof stagnation within Scarlet Rot. Still water garners disease and infection, running water stays pure. These are all just thoughts and I wish to know what everyone else thinks.

Yes, this timeline seems to line up. Age of Gods>Gloam Eyed Queen's God Hunt= all the flayed bodies Marika is walking through>Marika ascends>Messmer's purge>sealing of the rune of Death

Malikeith sword guard is U-shaped and gold while the sword itself is black like the burnt tree and it has death flame. What if malikeith is messmers shadow.

That may only be true if Messmer is revealed later on to be an Empyrean himself... He's already been confirmed to be Marika's child, but there is also a theory he is part of a set of triplets, being the long lost brother of Malenia and Miquella. This would make sense seeing as Marika had three kids with Godfrey and Rennala (Godwyn Morgott and Mohg, then Radahn Ranni and Rykard respectively) Also Maliketh was already stated to be Marika's shadow

I don’t think Messmer and Marika were working together. I think Messmer was angry by the outcome of the seduction and betrayal and it led him to a slaughter of those who were eligible for erdtree burial in order to grow the strength and influence of Marika’s golden age of abundance.
