See, I interpret this rendition as being the opening as dedicated to Messmer when he was still at his mother’s side, acting almost with a heroism as he absorbed all the hatred and fervor felt by the victims of the Crusade. Messmer was never a hero, but mainly cause he was never given the opportunity to be one. The woman’s voice here almost seems symbolic of Marika herself too, as thorough to reel him in whenever he might experience doubt at all the pain and suffering he’s causing

Despite his fate, of which he was aware when he was sent away, he very likely knew the importance of getting sent off to deal with that threat. Whenever I isten to this, I imagine Messmer scorching the 3 Divine Beasts, Dancing Lions, we see getting speared up in the storytrailer.
