Rants knows ball, got sick of arguing with Arsenal fans that don't. Ozil was a different class. When he left Madrid, their players and fans were upset. Elegant, gifted baller. Vision, balance, touch, weight of pass, close control and the ability to effortlessly glide past people. He was a great player. He is still a very good player now but Arsenal were not getting the best from him, with defence first tactics and dead players around him. Anyone that doesn't rate Ozil, does not know football imo.

@@juuglord8509 @JUUG LORD you weren't in the arguments and you're telling me what they were about. I'm talking about the Many that were saying he was sh*t and never was that good. Even post 2017 i defended ozils lack of performance, simply because a lot of it was not his fault imo. The level of the players around Ozil, declined, managers became more negative and Ozil suffered as a result. Cazorla being injured a lot, Sanchez leaving, Wilshire not being at the same level are things that affected Ozil. Then we had Emery come in and drop Ozil and then bring him back on but have him running back way too much which took away from his attacking and Arteta did the same. Ozil lost a bit of pace but his wand of a left foot and his ability to pick and deliver a pass, was still there. The team were far worse and in a lot of games, we were getting dominated and expecting Ozil to pull things out of the hat. When we were more dominant, other players took focus away from Ozil, we had more forward runners that created a yard for Ozil to do damage. Later on, teams said just clamp out Ozil because he was the only top draw player we had. These are my opinions. You won't change them and nobody else will either. The main thing is, Ozil was top draw. One of the best of the generation and whether anyone thought he was worthy of a place in Arsenals team towards the end or not, it's fine but not agreeing, he was a top draw player, is mad to me.

Ozil was not known specifically for his pace because his other attributes would normally steal the show, but he was a very quick player, used to burn people at Madrid all the time. By the time he got to Arsenal, he was literally starting to come down from his peak, which is presumably why Real Madrid were prepared to let him go. He was slowly starting to lose a bit of his pace and natural enthusiasm for the game - I mean let's face it, moving from Real Madrid to Arsenal is hardly going to add another spring in your step is it? The problem with Ozil was never his ability, the criticism was that he'd have a tendency to go missing in the big, or more awkward/difficult games. It was difficult not to agree, people weren't exactly noticing it because it wasn't happening if that makes sense. I don't think his criticism has been unjustified to be honest and don't think he was necessarily hated either. Overall he was a very good player, perhaps he may have benefited more from playing for a team like Arsenal and getting used to the PL earlier on in his career to really get the best out of him. Who knows.
