I can't believe I bought effectively the same product way back in 2015. It was the little know HolyManta VND which was a variable ND mount adapter that allowed the ND filter to 'flip' to the side. 2015! Nearly 10 years later and somebody else finally attempts something similar and better.

if the quality of the (heavy 6 stops) filtration keeps up - this thing is a must buy! lets see tests about color shifting, against heavy light, blooming, sharpness with heavy filtration etc... - but at this pricepoint - it dont need to be perfect optical wise - could be a very very good tool and maybe THE missing part for so many SLRs without internal ND filters.

Very cool that you can kick the filters out completely with just a switch and use the straight glass from the lens when wanted. But man, it would be a pain to clean dust out of that filter mechanism if/ when it gets in

Justin, if you pick this up, please test in combination with circular polarizers. As an FX9 user, I have experienced issues pairing the electronic variable ND with circular polarizers. I am unsure if this issue is for any form of variable electronic ND or if it is different with different implementations of eVND. Maybe you already know?

It's great that it allows you to shoot WITHOUT any ND as well. I know that some manufacturers of adapters (fotodiox??? Viltrox???) have adapters with variable ND, but I think that the minimum ND amount is like a two-stop ND. No way to shoot without ND (as far as I remember.)

This would be great, I use the canon RF to EF drop in VND which is on the adapter with sometimes the VND wheel can be hard to get to when the camera is rigged out so it’d be interested to see how this electronic VND works if AND if you be able to customise a button on the camera to operate it. Now that would be awesome.

1:40 - NOPE - Metabones absolutely refuses to make anything for Pentax K mount - which is odd because it will use the exact same glass as their C/Y Lens adapters, due to the nearly identical Flange Docal Distance, and just a different brass or steel mount ring.

That’s cool….i bought the Metabones cine PL to RF and only one of my PL lenses work on it. My 100mm 1.5x T2 Remus. The rest of the set DOES NOT! “But wait! It’s only for Ziess CP3” No bitch, only the 50mm works from our CP3 set!!!! What the hell metabones?! WHY? I’m so pissed about this. It’s was over $400 and it barely works on any lens I have had in my possession It’s so lame

@@JustinPhillip no I didn’t Justin. What they say online is that the flange distance can’t exceed a specific length. 14.5 mm It’s difficult to measure this. However, on the site, it specifies that this speedbooster was made specifically for the Ziess CP3, CP2s and CPz…. So, one would assume they fit they whole set right? Man, I tried the entire set, only the 50mm worked on my Komodo! Do you think it’s a faulty model? I just thought this was the product! Do you or anyone in the comments own the PL to Rf cine speed booster ? Can anyone relate to this? To be fully transparent, the back end lf the element is legitimately running into glass! I always assumed that the element length of PL lenses are identical though? You are getting me excited about considering that it’s just my adaptor, and not a universal issue!

​@@JustinPhillipThe only thing you can put behind the glass, on any mount for a lens of that mount, is a Teleconvertor (aka Doubler), or a Macro Adaptor, because fitting something between the body and the lens of the same mount, changes the Flange Focal Distance, making the lenses focus on a point above the sensor plane, and not on the sensor plane. Given the whole point of the E and other shallow FFD mounts, is to get the rear lens element surface as close to the sensor as possible for lower chromatic abberation, there's no room to put anything on the back of the lens, in the way rear PL filters can be, so for E-on-E, everything goes out front in the Matte Box or filter rings.
