I love that M2K started using Marth seriously because he bet Ken and Azen in Marth dittos. Also now I finally know the 3 times Mew2King 3 stocked Ken. I always knew about 0C3 Winners Semis and the 0C3 crew battle (Crazy Return vs East Coast) where M2K played absolutely amazing but never knew that he 3 stocked Ken in 06 at MLG in a crew battle

Mew2king was pretty much ahead of it's time : - The guy have a trifecta character incoming , when his Fox was already good , he added Marth and Sheik to the roster , and rose to number 1 - Perfected the punish game against all spacies with the Marth , and the legend of the Dark Marth on FD - Even though Mew2king never got to be 1st again after 2009 , he was still up there , been Top 5 - He pretty much push the "Counter pick wars" with the "I will go Marth on FD" , "Sheik on Dream Land to cover Marth" , "Fox for floaties", etc - Considering that by 2008-2012 , he was focusing on two Smash games at the same time , he even became the best on both games at the same time , and he ended up been Top 5 on Melee and Top 2-3 on Brawl during that period.

While he wasn’t ranked number 1 ever again, armada said he was “the guy to beat” during his winning streak in 2013. So he was informally the best for a couple months in 2013

People argue a lot about the GOAT of various games. To me, m2k is the GOAT of smash as a whole. He was in contention for the best of so many of the games. If he ever focused on a smash competition, it could have been his victory. Even if he was splitting his focus, it could have been his victory. At the Super Smash Cons, it was clear just how good he is at every single game. This interview really has me imagining an m2k where UCF was the default for Melee way back in, say, 2007. Anyway, I'm looking forward to that book, Jason!

Kind of funny to learn that M2K didn’t study an opponent until 2013. That’s crazy, especially with how successful he was. You’d think the guy who memorized frame data would memorize an opponent

Well about that , M2K have super strong fundamentals back then , and it would carried him to be number 1 back on 2007. However , out of the 5 Gods he would be the most "vulnerable one" , the one that would struggle against "gimmick" characters like Puff and Icies , and he has the worst record against the rest of the Gods (Losing records against all of them on the head to head). Though funny thing is that M2K is the god with the best record against Leffen.

I think he just thought it was BM, which tbh it kinda tracks. He talks about it as a negative aspect in his time in brawl (like part of the reason Icies are so toxic). he just wanted to be good at the game without sniping specific people. later on it became more normalized and considered fair mainly because of Hbox.
