I don't think you have the backend of the car mode in the right position. There are a set of taillights that should be deployed. The feet swivel out and under the car and the bumper (2 pieces) swings up. When the feet swing around, the toes can swing the opposite way on the bottom left and right under the car to give you more roll clearance.
