If anyone cares to read this, the commonly thought to be "definitive" version is the GameCube version with the best lighting and particle effects running in dolphin with a patch that adds in the Xbox version textures. Thats why the remapping project exists. He brings it up in the video but doesn't fully explain the reasoning for it. EDIT: If you want to buy a legal version of the game now though, no need to deal with shady eBay resellers. The game is available on the Xbox 360 digitally via backwards compatibility. If you don't wanna deal with emulating and patching, that would be the best way to go.

I got a hold of a GameCube copy of this game. You can feel the strange combination of loving skill put into the game and the overwhelmingly low-budget cheapness of the game engine that runs it. Ironically it kind of metaphysically reflects the themes and nature of the game. The "flying by the seat of your pants scrapped together barely functioning robot warrior" aesthetic.

The game has heavy amounts of balancing issues for multiplayer but all-in-all this was, and still is, a great game. Definitely one of the hardest single-player experiences I've ever played as well as its' normal difficulty level felt like Halo's Legendary from early games. Great review. This is easily my favorite game of all time. I remember my brother and I picking this game up when it came out in 2003. We bought it after we saw a commercial on G4. I own it on Gamecube, Xbox, and on 360. No lie when I say that I play it every year, at least once a year. I would say the 360 version is the most stable and accessible, although the titles when you load a level disappear. I think you're spot on with regard to the auto aim. It actually works against you when using the rockets, since enemies constantly move and your rockets will miss. The Serious Sam games have that problem too, so it's better and easier to play with auto aim disabled. I was so excited when I heard about the IP being renewed in 2014. But I guess that's a regular thing companies do. Sad that we'll never see a sequel.

This game made my childhood, along with Destroy All Humans so seeing you reference that game in this video was just heart warming. Like you said, I don’t know anyone, let alone ever saw or heard of anyone talking about this game from the time I was actually playing this game when I was younger to now me being 24 years old. I had an itch last week in my brain of just old video games and this was the only one I could think about. I’m so happy that there were people like you that really enjoyed this game like I did growing up. I wish that the “corporate greed” was a myth and gaming studios actually wanted to put out video games like they used to and just get a remaster or a sequel done. I just wish that studios, if given the green light, would take the risks on games like this instead of just trying remake games that really just don’t need a remake. I know that was a lot and I could type out so much more but I loved the review and the video even though I’m 3 years late, thank you for being one of the few that enjoyed this game like I did!

It worked and the teacher thought it was an impressive original story.

Such an amazing game with a plethora of weapons with different functions, that you can get currency to buy/upgrade, the robot's comedic additions, and, you said it, the immersive sound effects. I remember it not having a good Lock-On feature, like it was a game on hard move, but I liked the fact that I just considered it like a hard mode game, so it felt even more satisfying when you aimed a missle while incognito on an enemy, and watch it fly while you hear that satisfying death cry of the MILs. I would play this again, but man it's hard as hell. This was before I knew about cheats and Gamefaqs. That Metal Arms Glitch theme music is still awesome. Thanks for the video bruh. Personally, I kinda liked how Corrosive forced you to run away as letting him get too close to you meant instant death. And when you do finally get to fight him proper, it feels cathartic tearing him down now that he no longer has his armor. Especially towards the end of the fight when he loses both his arms and is hopping on one leg in a desperate attempt to get to you. But yeah, this game was amazing. I grew up with the PS2 version myself and when I played the XBOX version via the 360 due to my PS2 disc no longer working properly (the game itself would still run, but I recall a game breaking glitch that prevented me from moving forward) I was shocked at how much better the visuals and sounds were. It really is a damned shame such a fun and inventive game didn't get the recognition it deserved.
