I know you made this comment two years ago, but I figure I'll just post this for future readers. No, Acetone won't react poorly (read: react DEADLY) when welded over. I mean, if you weld over a puddle of it, then yeah, it's gonna catch on fire and ruin your weld, but the dangerous chemical in brake cleaner is Ether; when heated to super high temperatures in an argon environment, it makes some type of nerve gas, Phosgne gas if I remember right, which can kill you in very small doses.

except for when people use helium or tri-mixes, or 75/25.. depends on the metal... thickness, type, the type of joint, how much heat or not, how good your welder is, what you want your arc to do...and the dude welding it.. 100% argon is very common yeah, but hardly the only gas used for TIG.. as a matter of fact, the first "TIG" machines we're called heliarc... used only helium
