I would just love to come and dig with your group. Being from northeastern Indiana i never get a chance to dig civil war artifacts. Since all the latest problems our great nation has been dealing with i have been spending more time reading about our civil war. and praying we don't end up in another one. keep up the good work guy's

Both sides used the 1853 3-band Enfield rifle-musket in .577(.58) caliber. there was also a .54 caliber Austrian Lorenz rifle, the .52 caliber Sharps, .69 caliber Springfield and Harper's Ferry muskets which were smoothbore (used in the Mexican War) some of which were re-worked at the arsenal and were fitted with a rifled barrel.

I would like to ask a stupid question, please. When you find a civil war belt buckle, does that mean that’s where a soldier died and rotted away or eaten by animals?
@digginonfaith5313 жыл бұрын
No ma’am, it’s likely that the soldier’s belt broke or the buckle popped off. Not a stupid question at all.
