Dude! Chigg! Dude! Aside from animal scat-borne diseases, crawl space soils under old buildings are usually loaded with lead & arsenic precipitating down over the years from deteriorating paint, wood preservatives, & even Victorian wallpaper. PPE's man! I'm a carpenter/hazmat guy. Luv ya!

I think of that every time he does this and his wife probably won't watch his videos so she doesn't have to witness what he's doing. I couldn't stand knowing what he does if he was MY husband. But I guess you can't be cautious of everything in life, sometimes you just have to jump in and that's what Beau does. His bandaged fingers are proof of this. Start counting his band aids even though he keeps telling US to wear gloves. I have to laugh and take him with a large grain of salt. (O:

Time to start wearing a mask, Chigg.... I have developed a type of asthma from the dust I have inhaled over the 30 years worth of attics and basements I have picked......despite having worn a respirator part of the time....but not all the time like I should have. Fibreglass pink insulation gets me the worst now....end up feeling like I want to cough my lungs right out.

That electrical piece at 11:30 looks like the splice of two wires. Looks like 2 wires put together with a wire-nut and then wrapped with electrical tape to seal out moisture. A lot of times they were used for underground wiring, although this may or may not be approvedl for that use...depending on the materials involved.

Sometimes when landscaping companies bring fill in they bring in aluminum cans, etc in with the fill. Not all companies do this but some aren't on the level and bring in "dirty" fill. The previous owner may have had fill brought in and that could be why you're finding so many cans. I can't imagine anyone being blind enough to hit an aluminum can with a lawn mower.

Nice adventure today Chigg. Too bad there wasn't much in the way of historical relics, but still it was a nice place. Please protect you lungs with a mask when going under those old dusty houses. It will save you the coffin fit/coughing fit. You couldn't have got me in such a tight place for love nor money, especially if it smells. Too easy a gag reflex for me, and tight places give me the heebie- jeebies. Thanks for sharing and better luck next time, at least you found some silver, even if it was a rosy.
