Sunset is a beautiful beach, I walk my dog on that beach every morning as it is my home beach.

Jim. Instead of taping the wing nut at the top of scoop. There are rubber donuts. Like the kind dogs chew on. They come in different sizes. Fine one that fits and slide it all the way down. It will stop your hand from coming into contact with the wing nut and prevent you from needing stitches if you hand ships. Worth experimenting . Good luck

​Go and grab your tape before your well deserved beer. Nice rings. If you have a pool noodle you could probably cut a short piece off and tape it down tight for more cushion or pipe foam wrap.

Jim, when I was a kid in MD growing up my dad would give the trash collectors a Sade of beer or a bottle at Christmas time, up top of the cans. Seems like rose tracker guys are your Christmas and times have changed about the case of beer.just was thinking when you followed your dad around and detected w him and his group. Lots of fun for a long time!😉

Yes, back then the guys would surf, detect then surf again, they would find enough money to get cigarettes with the occasional nice find. I would surf then detect up a mess of quarters and hit the arcade under the pier. Times have changed for sure!

Yes I surfed OC Md never detected but the arcades were on the board walk. Yep lots of coastal history for both of us. Thanks for the ocean scenery

I wonder how the deus 2 with its black sand reject would perform on your so cal beaches?

I have seen 2 guys using the deus 2 on Sunset, both left early and I did not get a chance to speak with them. My buddy who lives on sunset beach uses a Pi instead of his Deus 2. So I really do not know and I am very curious to see, Thank you 🤙

Negative numbers are from all metal mode, the iron rich sand causes that reaction with Multi-Frequency machines. Thank you!

Does it make a difference if the soil is compacted?

Yes, Compacted soil is very dense and you will not be able to detect as deep as loose sand. 👍😎

Hi Jim what is your biggest gold nugget you have found metal detecting?

Desert nugget shooting a 7 gram chuck pancake shaped but on the beach the big gold chains are largest quantity of gold. Largest was about 630 grams of 18k. Thank you!

Viewers like myself wonder why you told that man that you had only found some clad coins, when not long before that time you recorded yourself finding a gold ring that you thought was foil.

Great question, simple answer - he is a stranger and I do not know who he is so why would I trust him. Crime happens here even on the beaches; if I announced I found gold, that could have possibly caused me to become a victim. 👍😎 It is best to just say you found coins and bottle caps.
