Metal detecting for civil war relics with BirdDogg. We dug lots of cool relics on this 2 day trip throughout Tennessee and Georgia!
Check out the link below to see what Birddogg found in that field on his next trip. I've never found one before!

Be sure to check out BirdDogg's channel! He digs up some amazing artifacts from the American Civil War. Below is the video where he found one of my bucket listers in the field we hunted: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJfLqpmlj9tmac0

The unknown brass at He wrap up at the end is what they call a stripper clip. It held bullets and made loading easier more on the world war one/world war two era. Still a pretty cool find

You might have told me that before. I probably forgot. Haha. It rings a bell now that you mention. Most coin shooters would have thrown that away, but I knew better. lol.

I recently dug a rounded-point white lead thing here in Mobile, and until I could see the whole length of it, I thought for SURE I finally found a Civil War bullet. It even had a couple of those recessed rings. Then.....as I got the shovel behind it, I could see that the other end was pointed too. DOH! Fishing sinker.

I had forgotten not only how much ground we covered during those couple days but also just how many good targets actually ended up coming out of the ground. It’s easy to lose track when it’s a Relic here in a relic there but it really was a productive and fun trip! Looking forward to when we can get back out again

Hey BirdDogg, I live 10 miles from Centerville Tn. Maybe someday you could come here n we could hunt some really good hotspots. Look up the history of Centerville and Vernon Tn. Lots of relic potential here. An older man told me that three of his friends were hunting along the Duck river at downtown Centerville and one of them found a rifle that an old tree grew around partially. He dug the rifle out with a knife blade. All was there but the wood of the gun and the soldier it was issued to lol

Great war vid J.D. I wish I could show you my collections. I hope you make a vid on how to approach property owners for permissions. I live near Centerville Tn. It's a hotspot for civil war relics. I cant find anyone to hunt wh on a regular basis. I found 4 Civil War dropped bullets in my neighbors front yard. Some white lead puddles too. A brass toe tap in excellent condition.

Hey JD. my brother lives in a house in central Indiana that was built in 1860ish on a larger city lot. There has been a lot of construction on the site in the recent past, so there are likely a lot of nails etc. Do you think it would be a good place to hunt, or would the nails and construction junk make it too frustrating??
@silverserpent6563
@silverserpent6563 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would be a fine place likely. Did all signals and you should likely find the goodies!
@JDsVarietyChannel
@JDsVarietyChannel 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, with a decent detector you can avoid the small iron objects and focus on better signals. It's best to stay at least a couple feet away from the house, you'll avoid most of the trash that way.

I found a 1947-D Rosevelt dime today with a 1 inch roofing nail beside a 1930 baseball field. If the coins on its side your machine may target the iron. Jd's right tho bout using a decent machine.

JD's Variety Channel great! I will give it a try. I’ve got an old Whites so I hope it is good enough. I guess I will know in a short amount of time if I just dig up crap lol. I will have to figure out how to work the thing again...been a few years since I’ve used it. Thanks for the encouragement!

The item you displayed at the end is a stripper clip that held 5 rounds of ammo for an American 03A1 30-06 Springfield rifle more than likely from a hunter? Or somebody who was shooting out there. Once the dirt is out you can see how the cartridges slid into it. Or it could be possibly from the 1897 French Lebel 8mm rifle that had a 3 round stripper clip.

Oh i hate shotgun headstamps with a passion. I love those dropped 3 ringers. Ive only ever found fired ones. Love those super old sites. Been a hot minute since ive been to one that old but like you I always find modern coins in old sites too lol 25:40 looks like the clip for a 1903 springfield bolt action rifle. Held 5 rounds
