These finds were weird. On my last metal detecting adventure, I found a large and odd piece of iron that I think may have come from a railroad, and I also found the remains of a solid lead boat anchor. In my very next video, I found precisely the same things. The boat anchor was a little lighter (I'm pretty sure that's what it is), but it was still a bunch of lead poured into a cylindrical container. The finds were at least 20 miles apart. Weird, eh?

That beer can you found is a ConeTop . They are among the first beer cans ever made. To determine it's age , look for the seam along it's side. If you can find the words "Internal Revenue TaxPaid" somewhere on it , usually along the seam , that indicates that it was made prior to WW2. If not, then it can only be from the early 1950s at the latest. They are rare , and all are valuable. As time goes on , condition standards are becoming more forgiving too. The square thing you found at the First location looks like a Journal Cover. They were lids that covered friction bearings on old RR axels. Probably late 1860s to 70s if cast iron, up to 1940s if pressed steel. I'm just about the only one in the world who actively collects them. Your bolster spring is the outer one, possibly off a Bettindorf or even an Archbar truck. Dating it would be very difficult by itself, but with your other finds, I can safely say 1860s to 1900 or so. Springs like that only turn up at sites where there was a serious train wreck , or they were scrapped.... I don't think that one was an anchor. Finally that second one of those things might be a cam off of a civil war era locomotive . On old ones like Winans camels , Americans , Crabs ect. The valve gear was internal . Cam operated. Well, not most 4-4-0s. The other one was way older. The one with two holes might even be part of the rods . Or both might be something else , I'll check and if I can I will comment it to you. Keep up the good work, I want to see you find a cannon , man!
