Long sidebar: We just passed the 21st anniversary of Type O-Negative's Life is Killing Me album. I somehow acquired a pre-release version of the album meant only for DJs to peruse. It had a vocal interruption every 30 seconds or so which was pretty annoying, but boy was I ready for the album when it officially debuted. Anesthesia, I Don't Wanna Be Me, Life is Killing Me, and (We Were) Electrocute were my early favourites. I was in an especially dark period and this album fit the bill pretty well. I've found that to be the case with a few Type O albums. October Rust was the perfect album at the perfect time, as was Dead Again. I'm at a phase in life where I can't rely on the next perfect release from bands that helped shape me. Peter Steele is gone. Layne Staley is gone. Gordon Downie is gone. Heck, it's been a long while, but D Boon is gone. Such is life I suppose. I'm still here.
