Great little solo to fill just a few measures in the middle of the song. Could it be better? Absolutely. But it really doesn’t sound bad at all. Sounds like a live solo but on an album which is cool to hear. And again, compared to HTSD, it’s great hearing Kirk play a solo like that again. When I first heard this tune the other night I was kinda torn, as far as my initial impression. Now a couple days have gone by and I have found myself repeatedly going back to listen to it, over and over. The chorus where James screams the song title is everything in this track. That and the kick drums. But just the way James climbs the ladder vocally to belt out the chorus is such an amazing hook. This almost feels like a sorta power metal almost-but-not-quite Dokken-type vibe meets British new wave meets sped-up Load riffage meets a more polished version of Hit the Lights. It's gonna be a go-to live song (the lyrics kinda reflect that) and the song's energy and the boys' own energy are undeniable. I can't explain it, but all I know is my ear loves it. I'm very happy Metallica is back with new tunes and I'm also very happy they kept the album under wraps so now it's arriving soon - to MY mind - rather than them announcing it 2 years out and then us playing the waiting game. Say what you will about Lars (no, don’t), he did inspire a lot of today’s metal drummers.

I don’t know why, but this track has a very mature, new, fresh take on the drum track by Lars. It just seems like a new drummer and a perspective of drumming that someone put a lot of intention behind it, love it!

This song really rips and I hope that Lars rocking the white drumkit isn't just for the video.

He changes the kit every album. What I’m hoping for is it wasn’t some lighting trick to make it look white when it’s actually yellow like the album haha
@irrsinnrainer2 жыл бұрын
@@DillyDilly13 Oh, yeah... That could really be the case. But Lars going back to the iconic white kit with black hardware would be sweet. Especially with the whole stage theme of Metallica being very much white over the last years.

@@irrsinnrainer I’m 99% sure it’s white but yeah haha

I love how you just enjoy the new music, not over analysing it like many other react video... (some even decide to hate it before hearing it)

Literally sounded like a drum machine someone programmed in a couple hours

Great to hear from the lads again, very classic sound. Turn that speed up to 1.25 for a different feel!

Lars kept it simple on the recorded track because he's going to be riffing a brand- new version of it each time it's played live!

I was getting kinda worried about Metallica for the past decade but if this song is any indication of the future for the band, it's looking pretty damn good for these legends. I can't wait for 72 Seasons to be released!

I think they wanted to keep it short and sweet, energetic, powerful, sort of like an strong introduction song, and it feels fresh, simple and honestly exciting to me. Very impressed with the energy coming from this new, highly unexpected, new album.

Phenomenal song. Kill ‘em all meets Motörhead and Priest. James sounds great too
