I had this gilly suit for playing paintball and we got to play on my friends dad's property which was huge. I remember I found my spot between two logs and I just put a bunch of leaves on top of me and I had my area of sight. It was perfect. On my first playthrough i was like sneaking up from behind on everything and kniving/CQCing it down. Wasnt very wise once i realized killing people has serious consequences in this game.. You should absolutely avoid killing people unnecessary, if you can avoid them in any other way, do it! Only kill those which you really need to remove permanently from the map. I think his first name is John, it was common during the time MGS3 was set for people called John to be referred to as Jack, for some reason. Also when Adam asks his real name at the end he says John, I don't think he was lying at that point. I think you're right about his second name not being Doe though.
