Like our parents or boomer relatives that just can't seem to figure out how shit works. I remember that for a long time on several games I was just stuck. I was either 1. Too stupid to figure out what I was doing wrong or 2. Too stupid to care and just played several sections over and over because I liked it. Then one day while playing my ultimate Spider-Man game something clicked and I've been whizzing games left and right. That's when I knew I could play games on harder difficulty. So I went back on all those games and played them on increasing difficulty. Good times.

I completed this from start to finish today. Haven't played it since I was a kid, man so many memories. MGS1 opened me up to such depths when I was younger: the philosophy of war, nuclear weapons, infiltration, betrayal, loyalty, loss of love and innocence, there are so many themes in these games, a lot for a 10 year old kid to take in. It's strange how the muscle memory kicked back in, I remembered the controls instantly, don't remember the cutscenes going on for so long though! Cheers for this video too, you did it faster than me, except Vamp, the grenade launcher is the way to go with him! Beautiful games though, they will forever be my favourite. @@sibsbubbles Considering that MGS2 was supposed to be the last MGS game, you're right, Hideo didn't plan that far ahead. You can "feel" some of that in MGS4 as he tries to wrap up the story in a "logical" way in a nonsensical world he's created. The game only draws on parallels to the real world but he tries his hardest to legitimize them (that's where he went wrong and should have just kept the mystery behind some things). Reducing everything down to "nanomachines" REALLY took away from the series a little, as if too say this magical piece of machinery is the reason why half (if not all) this madness is going on right now. Some things were best left unsaid but hey...At least the first 3 games were damn near perfect (MGS1, 2 and 3).

I remember watching my uncle play through this one time,id always heard of MGS as a kid but never got into it or was really allowed to (my parents were strict about violence and cussing in media around me) till he brought it over while spending the night and I sat there watching him play through the entire thing which was super fun and the first time we ever got along lmao - I never got to see the ending or maybe I just forgot but now that I re-watch it I realize at age 18 rather then 13 when I first saw it just how beautiful the ending message/moral is and how scarily relevant it is even still in 2021,I may not have been born in 2001 but I was in 2003 and it's just insane to me how a message in a video game can still hold up about 20 years later I remember when I first saw this game I thought the graphics were dope asf (especially the wind effects and the intro) and it's amazing to realize fully just how much graphics have changed over the years I grew up with a PS2 but alot of the games I had owned/still own didnt look that great but when I got this from my uncle I was blown away with what the console could do mechanic wise + graphic wise and especially with such a huge plot thats so good + how the crazy glitch stuff happened when my brain was just blown and also super spooked lmao , I'm glad that even now otacon is still my absolute favorite Anyways yeah this made me have a whole nostalgia moment watching it again (especially the nude part cause I remember cackling over it but also being amused since it was rare to see that trope with a guy rather then a female for me haha) I have fond memories watching MGS games being played by my uncle on my mums side and I'm so glad he introduced me to it even while my parents were strict af as now everytime I see/play/watch mgs stuff I think of him and how this game really brought us together closer when we realized we both loved video games (he didnt know at the time that I did so we finally were able to chat about games when he realized I liked them too) we didnt fight for once and even now I'm so glad we both enjoyed something together for the first time

Today, It's easy to take these types of games for granted. Metal Gear Solid was a platform defining masterpiece that pushed the PS1 to its limits. Its cinematic method of story telling and unique gameplay elements made it unlike anything available at the time. MGS 2 pushed this even further. The techological jump from the PS1 to the PS2 was astonishing, and ill never forget experiencing 5:27 for the first time.
