That's what most of the song seems like to me, but "I'm still in a dream" doesn't seem to fit with that to me. The boss would've woken up from her "dream" at the very beginning of the game when she received her final mission. (Fake defect, help Snake in his mission and ultimately die). Snake's the one who hasn't woken up yet.

The first time I ever played it was on 3DS. Excellent features in that one- I mostly played with my handheld hooked up to my 50w guitar amp with a SLIGHT bit of reverb to mimic the echo of "outside." I just used to sit and play this in the garage, amp cranked🎉🎉 🎉🎉

I don't know how I did it, but one day in the wee hours of the morning in the summer of '06 I was on the final fight with The Boss in the Subsistence version of the game, and I managed to defeat her just as the song ended: perfectly syncing with the crescendo.
