I would save your concerns for Eva which I hope they do justice because so far they are doing everything we want right in a remake. Where you start? Start here. MGS 3 is an origin story about Big Boss, the antagonist of Metal Gear 1 and 2 on the MSX. The story is easier to follow and more grounded than the others so you can get in and enjoy it without knowing anything about Metal Gear save for some Easter eggs. You can get it as part of the Metal Gear collection vol 1 on PS5 now.

The woman in the trailer is called The Boss. She’s the leader of the Cobra Unit Snake goes up against in the game. (there’s around 5 of them). She trained Snake until she switched sides (she’s pretty badass in the game). Snake is essentially tasked with k*lling her. MGS3 is arguably the best PS2 game, so I hope they get this right.

You must play all series. It's an iconic game franchise! There's a new Metal Gear Solid master collection volume 1 that came out last year, available on PlayStation 5. To complete the Metal Gear Solid series, here's the recommended order of games to play: 1. Metal Gear 2. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake 3. Metal Gear Solid 4. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty 5. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and many more. P.S. Metal Gear Solid 3 Delter: Snake Eater is also available on other platforms, including PlayStation 5. Master Collection is definitely the best way to start. Not only do you get to see the 3 games in the series that made it massively popular, you also get to play them in release order which is how they were meant to be played. But, if you really don't want to play PS1/PS2 games, you could always wait for this remake to come out since it is the beginning of the MGS timeline.

They recently released the 'Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1' that they recently released the first 3 games, I think it wasn't that great at launch but from what I've seen they fixed it and keep updating it so I think that's probably the best way to get into it. Although this remake is for the third game so when you finish the first two games in the collection it's up to you if you wanna play the third one 'Snake Eater' or wait for this remake. Also I'm exactly the same I absolutely love stealth games and stealth sections in games!

Yo Tyrone I gotchu if ya wanna get into the series there's an MGS 5 deluxe edition containing Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain as well as a recently released master collection with Metal Gear Solid 1-3 and even the OG NES Metal Gear titles. In terms of which one to play first you probably MGS 1 or 3 but u can even play 2 or 5 first because u technically play as Solid Snake for the majority of 2 and there's a reason for 5 but then I'll be getting into spoilers

if you want to get into the story I suggest starting with the metal gear solid master collection vol 1. some of those games were on the ps1, ps2, and the snes so the controls are kinda...... primitive. but it goes mgs1, mgs2, mgs3, mgs4 , mgs peace waler , mgs ground zeroes and mgs v the phantom pain. Get the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection for PS5. You can skip Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2. (They are the really old Nintendo versions) Start with Metal Gear Solid. Then Metal Gear Solid 2. And finally Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (prequel to everything)

MGS3 is the first chronogically in the franchises, and IMO, one of the best. If you want to follow the story, it gets kinda weird in number order, but the order is 3, Peacewalker, MGS5(V), MGS1, MGS2, MGS4, MGRR. You may not be able to get all of them on PS5, but they do exist on PC and PS3-4 in various capacities. Im just waiting for the MGS4 HD remake

If you want to play in chronological order in terms of canon I’d recommend playing in the following order: The MGS 3 remake (delta) as seen here MGS5 KZbin or wiki story line of MGS1 (unfortunately they don’t have a playable version of this game that I’d think you like; it was originally released on PS1 and they really only have this game with PS1 graphics; they did a remake for GameCube called twin snakes a while back; maybe they have that remake in PS store?) MGS 2 remaster MGS4 If you want to play in order of games that were released real time then just google release years and play them that way. Good luck!

MGS is not a series that you should play in chronological order. You should 1000% play Metal Gear 1, then 2, then peace walker (psp if possible but not necessary), then snake eater, then Ground Zero, then MGSV. To get a grip on the whole story you need to play them in release order. If you can't manage the older games I recommend watching KZbin videos about metal gear solid 1 and 2. Then play snake eater when the remake is out. I recently played MGSV for the first time and it blew my damn mind figuring out something plot wise.
