Oh, didn't know someone played it. By its very nature, Metal Gear Solid 1 is hard to randomize. It is a pretty linear game, with next to no rewards for exploration, and past the communications tower, there are no low level doors, so even if you find Cardboard Box C, there is nothing you can do if you have a level 3 security card (not to mention dealing with Sniper Wolf). It's quite brave of Great0ne to attempt to randomize this game. I can tell it is going to be a challenge code-wise.

I do agree with you that its a real challenge to make a randomizer out of MGS1. But that being said, It was great fun to play and I am planning to do more in the future. Thank you for watching and commenting!

This was kinda cool to see, i never really considered a randomizer for mgs1 as it feels like you would either get lucky and end up with everything you need or soft-locked just by the way mgs1 progression works, Tho maybe one day we will get a mgs 3 randomizer i think that would be interesting

Great watch! After all these years I never knew you could eat the ketchup! Don't know if it helps for future Mantis fights, but when I played the GOG version with controller I just bound space to shoot on the keyboard, moved and aimed with the controller and just used my little finger to hit space and shoot, miles easier than having to use keyboard controls 😅

Randomizing Metal gear is something Ive never considered before and if you pull it off it will be soooo cool, Even if just by little things. Being able to play the game again but with just a few things in different places is already worth it in my opinion and I would love it!!! Keep it up!!!

I've tried the Subsistance of Substance mod for MGS2 and while it is nice to have that camera movement however the game literally applies culling to anything the camera isnt looking at. at least on the tanker as ive yet to try it on the plant chapter

unfortunately Stealth & Bandanna cannot be found in the Randomizer currently and unsure if the mod author will add them in. The only way is to load up a save file with both already in your item inventory.

When you said you were stuck with the keyboard controls for Mantis (I admit I have not watched far enough in to see the fight itself yet), as you can't switch controllers, but why couldn't you just shoot the statues to keep being able to use the first controller?

​@@StormBreakerPirate Fair hah, I just wondered if some mod had stopped it being possible, or if you might not have been aware of it, good to know people do :D I'm not sure what specific circumstance would need you to use it though really ever? If you had a broken second controller port, or were playing it on a display in a shop? No idea otherwise, nice to know it's there though. Playing it again recently on the new Master Collection, I almost got a Fox rank but had too many kills. For me the toughest part of the game is oddly the guards shootout with Meryl, I just can't seem to get them to shoot the guard I have hostage without making me drop him.

It looks very fun at the beginning but near the mid point of the game it feels like you have everything, and since the game is very linear it will get repetitive after multiple playthroughs. Just my thoughts from watching several zelda randos. Still a great work by the developer! And thank you for sharing this. Waiting to see if they can add other customization options to make it even better :)

yeah I know what you mean with Zelda randos because I also play the KH2 Rando and there are always options and places to go that feel different anytime. my latest runs in MGS1 Rando have been about seeing if we can break the game with glitches when we get certain items which is super fun! People playing the PC "Integral" version of MGS1 and being forced to use Keyboard to replicate controller port 2 of PS1/port 4 of GCN Twin Snakes... if only they took their time to configure the Keyboard controller settings to make their tiny ride easier, that aside... is funny how the game now has an item randomizer.

for rando moments like this I really wish I recorded all my gameplay like you, cos no one would believe it otherwise. Just beak the tank on extreme with chaff g, stinger missiles and the psg1 cos I only had 1 grenade. Still not had a ration yet, and had to farm items looking for c4 for almost an hour to get to ocelot. He took a psg1 bullet to the knee to end the fight btw it does hella damage. This might be my favourite mod ever!

mate it gets even more mental. So I ended up having to rely on my psg1 AGAIN for the psycho fight cos I had no ammo for ANYTHING else. Then, at the Wolf fight the level 5 door wouldn't open with my card because the game saw that I had the PSG1 already. Thought I was softlocked till I realized something...I could use the stinger! Put herdown in about 5 shots. Absolutely mental...now I need to sleep haha@@StormBreakerPirate

this game never fails to amuse with the rando. No rations at all for the whole playthrough on extreme, needed to de rando to get rations the cargo elevator fight. Then, after I was healthy enough, the game kinda glitched and became much easier anyway during that fight. AND THEN...I got 12 rations before Raven. wtf haha@@StormBreakerPirate

Because I had found Cardboard Box C, you can use it to fast travel in one the back of one of the trucks either at the Heliport or Nuclear Warhead Storage Building to get to the Snowfield. Basically it breaks the game logic and bypasses a ton of fights including the Hind and Wolf fight 2. Just make sure you have Key Card 6 or 7 😁👍

Good question! So far I have managed to get the Stinger in all my test runs. Like you said glitching or using the C.Box to get to the snowfield would be your other options 😅
