Playing them on original hardware is the best way to play each game but it’s very hard for most to get them separately along several systems, so the best compilation released yet was Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for the PS3.

So the ps5 version doesn’t require download like the switch version? All the games are on the disc just not the sound tracks? I wanna revisit these games but gonna pass on switch since has a download required. Hoping not the case for ps5 version. Thanks!!

I heard this collection sucks, I've never played any of these games before so whats the best way to play them? Buy them for the ps2? Buy the 360 hd collection?

The answer is subjective. It depends on what you will considered "best". Ease of access? High performance? Authentic original experience? If you just want to play the games, yes. Having said that I would recommend that you ignore the Switch version. If you want a better value, I would wait a few years until the games are 50%. For best performance, buy the original PS/ PS2 games, a Retro Fighters PS2/ PS3 wireless controller, dump the discs and emulate them with enhanced performance. For the original experience is a whole other can of worms that will probably be beyond the scope of an average gamer as it can get expensive and very impractical. Let me know if you are curious.

The Xbox 360 MGS HD Collection has been taken off the MS Store, so the only way to get it is on the second hand market. If you do manage to find a physical copy of it though, it'll play on Xbox One/Series via backwards compatibility. I'd just Wishlist this on whatever console of choice and wait for a sale, the physical version will mostly go down in price first. I can confirm though, all content is on disc for the Xbox Series X. Konami also released a couple of update patches.

this collection sucks, games are rendered at native 720p or 1080p, when i've been playing all these games for years at native 5K with all graphical enhancements 20 years old games not running on modern hardware at native 1440p at least, is a joke

Far as I can tell only the MSX games Metal Gear 1&2 are on the cartridge. MGS 1 2 and 3 are all download required.
