The cartridge has MG1, MG2, MG NES and Snake's Revenge. The MGS games are downloads. The Japanese version is like that too but MGS1 is on the cart along with the MSX and NES games. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version has all games on disc but I believe the games are downloaded to the system and require the disc to play

@@JokerX350- For the Metal Gear Solid Collection on the Nintendo Switch, I am hearing different things regarding what game(s) are actually on the Game Card in which you access & play without the need to be connected to an online collection. As far as PS5 games being all on disc, if that is 100%, that is great news. However, the XBOX SERIES X will have the PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2097 Ultimate Edition beat in that the XSX version will have all game content on (3) disc. I’m not sure if that applies to Baulder’s Gate 3 Ultimate version though.

I never witnessed how these cartridges that need additional downloads work so your video was very informative, especially since you skipped the updates first. This physical game is as useless as digital downloads once the servers are gone. The only good thing is that you can sell and reuse this "physical key" as long as the servers exist and this is sadly the future of gaming. Some games are already bigger than the cartridges/discs, especially on powerful hardware we start to see more and more 100+ GB games. In the case of MGS it's of course corperate greed with putting only the smallest games possible on the cartridge and calling it a day to save money.

Just got my copy for my bday (26th) about (4) days ago, and it was a Switch copy btw. Got the Day (1) Edition, which came w/ game cartridge, Day (1) Code that has (4) Digital Comics, Soundtracks etc. im actually firing the game up tonight for the first time cause good lord!! Was the installation and downloading take forever!! Lol but having all this nostalgia is badass. Remember playing MGS1 back in '99 on the PSX on a demo disc, then, the day it dropped my buddy & I walked up to Target to pick up the massive (at the time) 2-Disk case/game. Same goes for the other 2 but i bought my PS2 and MGS2 together literally 3 yrs later lol 2002 was a great year

Can we please stop supporting this type of behavior? I’d take a ps1, ps2 or a 3 at this point. You know what? Even better a PSP and I’ll just emulate it. I miss just putting my ps1 game in and just playing. I love those times because they had to make sure the game worked well enough for the longevity. We don’t own anything anymore I think I’m done with this whole industry as a whole. If you die what do you leave behind for your kids? Some bs PSN account or Nintendo account? That’s crazy just think about it. I don’t want to connect to the internet to enjoy my games.

In saying it loud and clear, I have bought physical copy of this game, and I swear to Konami that I will get the rom to play it on a emulator. I’m not complaining about the content, but the fact that is not inside of a 32GB cartridge, Damm those who embrace digital only, I got this so I could have a physical copy and still play once servers shutdown. I’ll do it the other way though, after all, I have legally bought my license and I will mod my switch once servers become decommissioned.

That little cattridge is not going to outlive Nintendo switches. The problem is when they left optical it became a temporary file storage format basically. This will make sense in 7-9 years of not playing it.

It really seems like they didn’t want us to own the games. I think this is the future of gaming coming sooner than we think unless we complain a lot more

@@firebirdstark hmmm yeah I guess that’s true. I haven’t put much thought into the technical aspect but you have a point there. We do have some larger things on the cartridge. Yes it is so sad. I always want the physical versions. I hate digital crap. I will gladly pay more honestly for a physical version. Xbox with game pass doesn’t help either….pushing the digital narrative forward…I agree we need to complain more and keep our physical media going!

Switch cartridge only has the two NES metal gear games, the rest you need to download.

@@MALICEDOLL79 They're not the nes games, theyre the msx games, the superior japanese only versions that only got ported to the us in mgs3 subsistence on the ps2 and later ported to ps3 with the hd collection, the nes games are probably in the third app that contains the bundle exclusive contents

Metal Gear is my 3rd favorite franchise of all time, seeing this is such an insult. I'm glad I still got The Essential Collection, HD Collection and Legacy Collection. Along with the Nintendo remakes like MGS1 Twin Snakes and MGS3D, which they updated the models, replacing the Kerotan models with Yoshi's and gave it Peace Walker controls which hardly anyone talks about besides bitching about the framerate.
