My first glimpse of this game was when I was walking by a neighbor's apartment in 99 and through their window, saw them playing this. I was so intrigued I had to find out what it was. Later I finally got the PlayStation and the demo for MGS was included. I played that demo at least fifty times before playing the whole game. After basically memorizing the game, I recorded the cutscenes to a VHS, which I would just play in the background while I did other things. Man, few things have left an impression like this one has.

It’s May of 1999. You walk into your Cousin’s house who not only has the setup you described but a major sound system. He’s playing MGS in the hall before getting to Meryl’s cell area. All you know is Mario and Nintendo games. I instantly fell for Metal Gear games. I will NEVER forget my intro to Solid Snake. What a legend- literally. (Shoot, I’m still playing phantom pain praying for a too-late DLC where we get to infiltrate new places beside Africa and Afghanistan.)

It 1999 and your parents go to Pizza Hut and they give you the disc that had 5 demo games on it and one of them was Metal Gear Solid and you could never figure out how to beat the demo until you got the full dual disc game 2 years later from Circuit City and discover Meryl’s codec number on the back of the cd case! Real MGS fans know this struggle.

@@alternativeaccount8612 1. Before entering the duct at the Heliport there was an surveillance camera with a slippy soldier 2. It’s not the canon route ( cause the cutscene to locate the DARPA was on the UPPER vent , easy route specially you could pick the thermal goggles and the box ) and in MGS 4 if you take the upper vent you could find an hidden MP3 music of the hangar from MGS1 which once again that was the canon route 3. Had some water that could drown you... 4. Had some rats (and prob fezes🤢) 5. Sry for late reply 😶

Who else played this at a friend house for the first time. But the friend wouldnt want to binge it. We never made it upstairs because by that time he would be bored af 😂. "My house, I decide.". Cant lie, I pretended to like him for him being my only shot at playing this game. I would strangle him If I could. I gave up upon it back then . But when I played this again in 2005 the graphics looked so awful compared to how I remembered it. It was was truly magical the first time. It was so magical I had even attributed the game full swimming animations which apparently were false memories.

I remember walking with my older brother to his friend's house, and they had a Playstation 1 at the time. we played Spyro then Metal Gear Solid... I have been itching ever since I saw them play it, but I was a Nintendo kid... there wasn't a Metal Gear Solid version for me... I played WinBack for the 64 and I loved the Gener. (Great Game BTW) It wasn't until I got it for the PC that I was able to play the game in the year 2001 I freaking loved it! in the Year 2002-2003, I sold my Gamecube in exchange for a PS2 with Sons of Liberty and Final Fantasy x..... such great games back then 🥲
