I’ve been listening for a couple of months now: killswitch engage, demon hunter, occasionally some slipknot songs. I never in my lifetime would think I would enjoy this genre of music but there’s something different about this.

Just came across this. What I truly appreciate, from a psychoanalytic perspective, the children seen are experiencing the music as is, without the influence of societal bias pressing on them. It demonstrates that metal is a truly beautiful musical expression. It's a predisposition imposed by outside sources that try to convey that metal is wrong, bad, or in some other channels 'intolerable'. The openness of the children lend to a better understanding that thought and expression is pure; society has created the bias, not the music itself.

I love the kids reactions to this. Its hard to understand for some people, but our brains get stimulated from unexpected noise. It's kind of crazy what kinds of "weird" music you might love if you gave it a chance and not care what people think.. And usually that really profound brain stimulation is from something heavy and loud and unexpected but still contains rhythm. Really it's just science that we don't put any resources in to studying and promoting.
