I was also going to suggest watching Ren's chapters. It is the best way to get to know Ren's whole incredible story, and it also provides a lot of insight into his songs. Omar, you should definitely watch them if you can.

Lyme disease was what he had all along. He was misdiagnosed and went through years of being treated with medications that probably did more harm than good as doctors attempted to treat whatever mental illness they thought he might have this month. Meanwhile the Lyme disease continued to wreck his body and mind. Constant pain. Eventually his body rejected food and he was reduced to just broths his mom would make. A miracle he had even survived. He had missed what would be normally some of the best years of his life. Thinking he might not live to be 30 but he kept trying. He was a young man already creating music when this happened to him with big hopes. Music was something he loved and enjoyed.He still undergoes treatments and has days when he feels weak but he keeps going. He recently thanked everyone that had given him donations because he had during this difficult period of his life had to worry about fundraising to get treatments and afford medications. He let us know that he is now able to pay for his own treatments and that we should please stop sending him donations. He reassured us that he is now fine to take care of it himself , he appreciates all the love and help he received but that he does not need our donations. If we want to spend money supporting him we can purchase his album or merchandise instead. I thought that was very nice for him to let his fans know this.❤️❤️❤️

Great song! I hate that anyone else has to go through the absolute misery of chronic Lyme and MCAS. I am years into trying to fix all the damage from decades of mis/non diagnosis, so I know (although I got to enjoy my 20’s at least before getting sick), but the fact that Ren has been able to use his experience to inspire such amazing art and committed to help others is a true gift! I second what another comment mentioned. He did 8 Chapters ahead of this video release where he sat and told his story in detail (with a song at the end of each), so if you have the time/interest, it gives a lot of insight into his perspective.

The sad part is that he is still not well. The untreated Lyme disease did damage to his brain and nerves so still lives in pain. But with treatment, he can at least function most days. I’m a 72 year old woman who loves RENs music and him as a person and pray he stays healthy. I found your channel and really enjoy your personality, your positivity and of course our group hug.

My best friend passed away 5 months ago at the age of 27 from a stroke and today would have been her 28th birthday so that hug and words of comfort meant more than you would know. thank you Omar 🤘🏻

There are lots of really great reactions to this song on KZbin, but yours was THE reaction I could feel the reactor was being most impacted by the lyrics. Love this track. Love the manipulated sample of the song that means so much to Ren, love the "no holds barred, this is what I went through" lyrics, love the Frusciante-esque guitar licks, love the strings, love Ren's choices with his vocals. Ren carried an ME misdiagnosis (along with Bipolar and MDD) for about 5 years because Lyme-bearing ticks are extremely rare in the UK, so no one investigated for Lyme until Ren himself, following a *different* trail of breadcrumbs re: potential diagnosis, got to a doctor in Belgium who recognized it as Lyme and ran the tests to confirm. While living with his ME misdiagnosis, Ren started health blogging and became somewhat "known" within the ME community online to the point of when a woman with ME (Jennifer Brea) was making a documentary about her journey with the illness, she asked him to write a song for the film, and then interviewed him for it. The documentary is called "Unrest" and is available on Netflix, and the song is called "Patience" and is one of my favourite Ren tracks. You can find the clip from the documentary if you search "Ren Gill Patience" - it's on Ayesha Jones' channel (someone else also has just the studio recording up on KZbin, but it's seriously worth watching Ren perform it on camera). Ren always said that if he ever "got better," he'd keep trying to help people still suffering through ME. Ren released this track in conjunction with ME Awareness Week, where the slogan is #MillionsMissing (often shortened to just #Missing). He also changed his profile pictures on all social media platforms to the Missing logo. People with debilitating chronic illnesses like ME talk about going missing from life - they slowly have to disappear from more and more of the out-of-bed activities they used to be involved with, until they can rarely if ever leave the house and might even need help just to leave their bed on bad days. Beyond having to abandon normal life, they talk about going missing because with chronic illnesses like this, friends and family too often abandon them. People don't know how to maintain relationships with someone who can't participate in their lives; it's uncomfortable, and they just... stop visiting, stop calling, even stop e-mailing, as the illness drags on and on. So "Posters up; manhunt, Ren went missing" is directly referring to that situation & the ME awareness week, as well as probably talking about how the pain and weakness and nausea caused him to "lose" himself for a while there. Super intense song.

There are videos of Ren when he was in the worst part of his illness, his transformation has been nothing short of inspiring. Due to a strict diet, a barrage of medications, never ending train of IV treatments, along with his own strict workout routine. Ren has managed to regain much of his quality of life, but due to the damage already incurred, Ren will always have to contend with residual symptoms. I myself suffer from a rare genetic disease and like Ren, was misdiagnosed early on. Not till I was much older and the disease had eroded my body to the point of being homebound and unable to participate in life anymore, I discovered Ren by pure accident on KZbin. His story resonated to closely to mine, he has become my daily medication. While my prognosis is already determined, watching Ren's transformation and his messaging to effect changes gives me hope for us all, as humans, we need more discussion, more empathy and understanding.

This is why these illnesses are referred to as invisible illnesses or diseases. We can look perfectly fine but be experiencing excruciating symptoms on the inside. I have Behçet’s Disease which is another rare autoimmune condition. I have been accused of not needing my handicap placard for parking, not needing my wheelchair (because I don’t need it every single day) and treated like I’m faking multiple times over the years, even by Drs, simply because I look “normal”. I’m grateful to watch you respond to finding out that Ren is suffering from multiple invisible diseases with empathy and grace. Thank you as always for brightening my day ❤

I just found Ren two months ago or so. When you said he's the most inspiring person, I felt that. He's a genuine human who has intelligent thoughts about the state of humanity. With great power comes great responsibility, and Ren is truly a hero! He is using his growing powers and platform for so much more than simply creating brilliant music. Ren has said that he always had this feeling that he was meant to change the world for the better. So much that he defiantly yelled a challenge to evil into an empty room. And then he got sick… Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. I small victory song for Sick Boi. He is leaving Canada soon, he’s going home back to the UK. Ren is performing at a music festival (Secret Garden Party) in late July. This song is an eye opener for a lot of people I only discovered Ren a little or a yr ago and now I say I didn't know how much I needed Ren in my life until he was in my life.
