Metal Ladder Chair | JIMBO'S GARAGE

Jimbo makes this incredible metal ladder chair from scratch. This was one of those build as you go type projects. I use to see ladder chair more often as a kid, they are kind of hard to come by now a days. As I went on I learned and would add on things I thought it needed. Keep the metal structure of the chair square was probably the hardest and most important part. Especially because this this is moving, you need to make sure that it is almost perfect for it to work correctly. I added some safety features I felt were needed so that it wouldn't collapse on you regardless of weight. The wheels at the end I felt were a good addition so you don't have to lift the chair and worry about getting your finger caught in between anything. It make it easy and safe to move around. The wheel s couples with the handrail at the top make this metal ladder chair feel pretty safe.

Liked your video, entertaining and informative. But, I couldn't help not to notice, considering I've been a heat treater for over 25 years. No mention,of stress relieving of welded parts. I know it's only a chair / ladder. But proper procedure, requires stress relieving. Those pieces are pulling, in all different kinds of directions.Stress relieving, I'm sure you know, makes them all as one.

I just saw a shop stool build by Steve Carmichael. I was thinking of making one, but I do use my stool on occasion like a ladder. No joke, yesterday I added it to my project list. I was going with wood, but after seeing this I may rethink that. Great build.

Pretty neat project! Can't say I would have a need for one, but cool none the less. We have that exact same Slugger saw in our shop at the school. We have been using it well over a year now. The thing is incredible! You could never get accurate angles like that using a conventional chop saw with an abrasive blade. I love the fact that it does not produce dust, just chips which fall to the tray or table.

Great Job. Lots of creative design used in fabrication of chair - I was impressed! Some good tips on welding as well, especially the magnet to hold the end cap pieces. Note; I had the opportunity of spending a few hours in a large professional fab shop. The welder using MIG had a spray can (size of spray paint can) of clear stuff that he would spray around the to be welded area and very, very few beads stuck. I am sure a welding store would know the name of it. Thanks!
