Ripper is a absolutely brilliant vocalist. Undeniably excellent, he kills live every time I see him.

Wow, Ripper covers the song flawlessly. I was impressed.

I feel than ripper has a more agressive voice than halford. So IMO he did pretty good here.

Tim sounds fucking great on this. He's not a bad vocalist, its just the writing wasn't that great when he was with Priest. Had the writing been better, I think there would have been more interest in his era. I think it deserves to be paid more attention to though, it does have its place in Priest history, and Tim did kind of stop Priest from dissolving. I think they would have still gotten back together, but I think it might have been a harder transition.
@SilverTounge859 жыл бұрын
***** Tim did well...especially on tour in 1998. I saw Priest for the first time in 2002 w. Tim. He was good, but he has no stage presence at all. Just standing there with mouth open and "air-punching" to look cool. It was kind of lame, but it was still a good show and vocally he delivered, but I think Priest sounded more fresh and extreme in 1998 when touring 'Jugulator'. They played classics such as this, 'Night Crawler', 'The Sentinel' etc. Those were left out from the setlist in 2001-02, due to new 'Demoltion' tracks taking their places in the setlist. Tim is a great vocalist. Love the work he did with Priest and Iced Earth. But stage presence and persona when not on stage...nope. He is a conservative douchebag. Used to have him on fb, but he shared so much crap and nonsense I had to remove him. I always thought Ralf Schepers from Gamma Ray and Primal Fear was a better replacement for Halford, and I've read he was their first choice, but things took too long to get him into the band or something, so they went with the next-best "thing". Ripper!

Agreed he's an amazing vocalist. Wait tho, a musician that stands up for the US is bad now? Ummm.. Less brainwashed & pro US is a good thing, unless.. lol

Writing wasn't great? Jugulator is one of the best metal records out there, it easily beats anything done from the big 4 post 1990

Halford did such a wonderful job in the studio version that neither of these both singer can actually sing this correctly live in my opinion...also the fact that sometimes there's two voices in the record

The Ripper fucking delivers on this song, no offense to Halford, but Ripper was the best thing to happen to Priest, even though Halford is the original and will always be a metal god.

i dont think he hurt iced earth, more so that the songwriting wasnt there anymore. that and that his voice was nothing like matt so he really couldnt sing the old songs. but for the most part they avoided that.

Many people are making the mistake of simply comparing Ripper to Halford. Ya gotta look past that. I was skeptical at first too but then I really listened to Tim and he's an incredible vocalist! It's a shame bands like Priest and Iced Earth have somewhat ruined his reputation. He does have his own stuff including Beyond Fear which is awesome and I really recommend listening to it. As for covering Priest live, I think he does a hell of a job. See it as a tribute, not a comparison. Hail Priest!
