Quite a bit of 90s metalcore was very groove metal influenced. Earth Crisis - Gommorah's Season Ends, Vision of Disorder and One King Down had a big groove metal influence on the riffing. Also Turmoil, though they were a bit more rhythmically complex. Lots of the heavier hardcore from the era gets overlooked and it was great

The owners of the music store would let us claim any of their in-store plays that none of their employees wanted at the end of each month. Grip Inc. was one of the best albums I scored from them. Listened to it a ton back in the 90's, and still pop it in from time to time.

cool, you mention the band Prong: so underrated but i think i can give a lot of credits about them. i remember on 1994. i listened the song called "No question" by prong. I definitely understand that surreal feeling, when I saw Black Sabbath in 2013 it was so mind blowing my mind practically turned to mush for the whole show. I was so in the moment when i go to recall how I felt in certain moments during the show its all just a haze. most of the other major artists i've seen tour regularly and thankfully mid florida gets hit relatively frequently, so its less of a dire situation. but I'm pretty sure that it was THE last tour they hit florida before they disbanded. My band went on to open for thrash gods Havok 4 days later all of it was a blur. one of the best weeks of my life.

Great video. I didn’t watch it in one go only because you mentioned so many great bands I had to go listen to them and come back to the video. When Pantera came out I was really into thrash and Panrtera blew my mind. I started listening to Obituary after that and Pantera was like in between death and thrash for me. Tone wise, Vulgar Display of Power was a billion times heavier sounding than bands like Metallica/Slayer. Plus the guitar solos were way more exciting. Today I thought maybe Pantera ‘s sound is Dime channeling his love for EVH and thrash?

You have a good wife Ola , it's awesome how Louise nods along to your playing and is into metal. My wife is a good wife also and puts up with a lot of my crap , but she absolutely hates metal and hates me playing guitar. We have nothing in common music wise , she listens to some pop crap on corporate radio or nothing at all. When we're driving in the car together she complains non stop even when the volume is at it's lowest level possible , which you know sucks when you're listening to metal. It takes the enjoyment out of it. I tell her it's not meant to be listened to at low volumes , that defeats the purpose! Rock on bro!!!\m/
