I'm not a musician but I've always been fascinated by Danny's fills. He seems to experience time at a different rate to other human beings. It's as if he gets bored part way through his already very complicated patterns, then throws in a more complicated drum pattern to fill in time

Pretty sure he was playing triplets with the left and doubles with right and moving around the set while simultaneously keeping time on his right leg at one point and I may have had a stroke trying wrap my head around it
@mendronesg2 жыл бұрын
I think he's using the same technique he does in the beggining of the song, with the rim shots He's doing double strokes with the right hand and single strokes with the left. Like... Tu tu (right hand) pa (right hand)
@gothikaboy2 жыл бұрын
@@mendronesg he starts doing that, then it's a swiss triplet pattern.

That high hat just keeping metronomic time like an atomic clock while he covers the rest of the set with polyrhythms just kills me every time

danny carey is no more talented on a technical level than any college jazz program's drummers. what makes danny stand out is the collaborative effort with the other three members of the band. tool isn't tool without maynard. tool isn't tool without justin and tool isn't tool without adam.

Within rhythm the drummer can play more inspired parts by using "Subdivisions" within the meter of the song. Danny is immaculate at this style to his advantage. The music just sounds like it has more depth... Great reaction! Happy you enjoyed it my friend.. Peace..
