Ngl. I wasn't even a big fan of BMTH 10+ years ago, but damn I'd die to go back to the day when there was actually still a thriving heavy music scene. Don't get me wrong, there's great heavy music being made right now, but the community is very weak to non-existent in most places whereas when I was a teenager it was everywhere.

This was before Hollow Crown, which is even more insane. This was Ruin era Architects, they were barely known outside of the British mathcore/tech metal scene at this point. 2009 happened, Follow The Water got them a bit of attention, and the rest is history.

It's nothing special guitar wise (I mean there is some groove but I think Nik would prob be able to cover those EP's in a day tbh) but his vocals and the concept albums he makes hit another level. Like old Plot in You with First Born and Wifebeater? Those are heavy but the lyrics are kinda cringy at times and stuff. The Plot in You stuff had some cool guitars though. Landon himself says he doesn't like those albums a lot and I can understand why, but there's no harm in enjoying it. Tewers also made this stupid song he really regrets making it is called "This Song Sucks" and "This Song is Worse" and it is hilarious it was def a joke but it kinda slaps. I am sure Nik will be intrigued. IMO, the catalyst album where Jona's guitar influences really pushed that change them you see in Sempiternal etc. As for other core bands, check out Heart in Hands early stuff, its so good. He was heavy into them at least when I was touring with him. This was around the time “The Here and Now” was out and they were touring Canada.

This song is so good, I discovered this album last year and I think it’s my favourite BMTH album after Sempiternal despite it not being as mature/polished as their later albums.

Fair opinion. But in all honesty I have mates who will listen to so many different bands. But have no idea that earlier bring me was more brutal and heavier that what has been played on the radio these days. So I think Nik may genuinely not know.
