The directions that come with this are useless it needs twenty four hours or more and it works great. Anything less doesn't work well on really rusty stuff

Hi Mike, our suggested de-rusting times are just that, suggested. It is tough to say how long a part needs soak. You are right, a 24 hour soak for heavily rusted parts is great if you have the time. Some parts will take longer than 24 hours. It all depends on the amount of rust on your metal part. The good thing about Metal Rescue is that you cannot leave your part soaking for too long. Metal Rescue is not an acid and will not harm anything, it only removes the rust.
